Just getting really tired of this mug.. Watched a little clip of Barret and the hairy one discussing the acts of thuggery displayed by Hodge and Lewis on the weekend, Hairy Garry said they should miss 3, "they have GWS and Melbourne coming up, so it won't hurt them too much". Now it might be true, but how about some support you ungrateful piece of crap!

Sick of it! Without the MFC you would be nothing! Poor Jimma had to just about twist your arm to help us when he was on his death bed, not to mention your unwillingness to deter from your self centred view on life, and how you only want to focus on your media career.

You are a selfish, unappreciative, spoilt snipper, and it hurts, because you used to be my hero.

GFY GARRY!!

I think Hawthorn were also knocking on the door.Perhaps he would have been a multi premiership player had it not been for us?

Anyone who's read David Schwarz's book would know it would have been great to play alongside a leader like Lyon.

Anyone who disagrees with the statement is merely frustrated that he's correct.

If he said we were actually a chance now that those 2 players are missing he'd be lambasted and rightly so.

Any-one who read Schwarz's book will realise the MFC and football was just a means to feed his gambling habit.

Also think that Lyon was a good captain as long as you had a spot on Hollywood Boulevard.

Which Schwarz had.

"Thanks for nothing Garry Lyon" is just such a misguided statement. The bloke has life long body reminders for what he gave. He's a passionate Demons supporter for life FFS

Yeah don't understand the angst towards Lyon. He's a passionate demon and I think he fights it at times to be seen as more impartial.

I don't see anything particularly wrong with what he said, we're still a bottom rung team (albeit seemingly improving). We were just destroyed over the weekend by Freo, we will realistically be destroyed in a couple of weeks by the Hawks, with or without Lewis and Hodge.

I don't understand this perception that past players or media commentators should withhold their true views due to past allegiances. Mike Sheahan used to needlessly cop it too.

I want unfiltered views. I may not agree with them, but I want committed commentary. I don't want to hear Jonathan Brown going soft on the Lions, because he was their star player. I want him saying it like it is. I'll think he's full of it if he waters things down.

It's called "credibility".

Moronic thread.

No one watches, or admits to watching the Footy Show any more, but I record it every week and fast forward to the Melbourne bit.

Every week, especially in the last 2 years, Gaz pumps us up, especially the young kids lately. And he's come across genuinely excited after our last 2 wins in all the media he's got his head on.

So thanks, Gaz.

Deestroy All. I've read your post twice. I've come to the view that you watch the Footy Show but are struggling to admit that you do. Don't be ashamed, though. You're ahead of the posters who watch it but won't admit it at all.

Disclosure: I watched the Footy Show regularly when my football mad sons used to watch it with me. Personally, I think the producers erred by replacing a professional comedian (Trevor Marmalade) with a buffoon (Bill Brownless). I haven't watched it for about three or four years.

Garry owes nothing to this club.

He did his time and service with distinction. He was the leader and face of the club for years. He gave his back to club which is something that will hinder him the rest of his life.

His job now is in the media and not at the club.

Garry clearly still loves the club. I will happily admit that I watch the footy show and listen to him on triple m footy and he always goes into bat for the Dees every time he can but he is still honest about where they're at and how they're travelling. You can tell how much he hurts just like us when the club is failing on field.

Garry Lyon is not the one to blame for where the club is at

His father played for Hawthorn, they tried to pick him up as a father-son selection,

Haha this coming from a guy who posted the following about one of our own players....

"Who was it that tipped (a while ago) that he would retire early? I'm starting to see it now; sublimely skilled, but no ticker- was always that 1 important element away from greatness, but has now proven beyond a doubt that it isn't in him and can not be developed.

No club will trade for him, and we are probably at the point now that he can not hide anymore now that the whole team has developed a hardened edge.

My tip is he will be told when his contract is up that it will not be renewed. There is no point going through the indignity of being floated around for trade for nil interest, as all the cards have been put on the table, therefore an early retirement to focus on life outside football and save face for both parties. I can smell it."

Excuse me for my ignorance but who was this written about? Jack Watts, Cale Morton, Colin Sylvia?

Do you honestly think Melbourne are in the same ball park as Hawthorn? Like even with 5 goals of Hawthorn?

Nothing has even come close to undoing what Lyon did for this club. It's rediculous people blame Lyon for the appointment, is not the board to blame ?

I love what we did you Thugthorn in the 80's. And I think we are not without a chance of doing it again in 2015.

For all his fine qualities , the plain truth is that our club would not exist today if the Lyon supported Merger of 1996 was successful . He was supporting his "little mate" ( Ian Ridley ) .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
