Scary stuff. The Dorks nearly snatch it from 58 points down! Against a top 4 side! If Port had not had that first quarter blinder they may have been smashed. Don't think Clarko will be too worried by that loss away from home.

And cut out the sewerage jokes Sir WYL!

Not directed at you Earl. I am sure you understand :)

Swannies are doing a Hawthorn, huge comeback with a quarter to go

Best 4 sides in the comp on show tonight

I'm glad the Hawkd came back like they did... meant we keep 9th on the ladder.

Been out for dinner tonight and haven't been watching but I hope the Swans are giving it to Freo in terms of physical pressure and that, combined with the trip to Melbourne they're going to be flat next Sunday.

Terrible call on the poster, hit the freo players legs and came back in, not the post.

Wrong, IMO. Hit the post. The camera angle made it look a little like it hit the player's leg, but it hit the post.

PS, I'd still trade Hogan for Fyfe. He'd be the only one in the AFL though.

no lake, no frawley......poor old hawks and their glory-hunters....i feel for them....not

Lake, Frawley, Gibson. They've bought their entire backine. So much for developing your own.

[censored]. I hate Freo cause I worry they will snatch Hogan from us.

If we win games i reckon he will stay

And that's what I hate about the current AFL landscape. The kid has played four games, is contracted for another two and a half seasons, and some of us are panicking about the prospect of losing him already.

Haven't been watching any of these games but interested in opinions re our next games:

1. Effect on Freo of the nature of tonight's game (on top of travel and a shorter week)? Physical? Mental?

2. Effect of loss of Lake (and - erk - Frawley)?

I hope the Freo that turned up against the sainters last year turn up against us. Also, I hope it rains.

I reckon if you're within touch at 3 quarter time vs Port you're a chance. Their game plan seems to be really taxing and they have to be careful not to fade for the second half of the year.

Honestly can't believe the hawks actually managed to get themselves back into the game, down their key defender as well from early on, they are impressive.

The furious momentum driven way many teams are playing these days will cause a lot of burnout come July August. Even more intense than last season. The teams with the best resiliance will feature top four. Not necessarily the current fast burners. This was well demonstrated last season where Hawthorn and Swans had relatively poor starts. There may be a few surprises.

Freo have now beaten 3 of last year's top 6 teams (and thrashed WCE). They are hunting down a top 2 spot as they know they can't win the GF unless they do. Expect them to be more rulthless than usual. Will be a good test of our aggressive play. Looking forward to it.

Last night Roos' two apprentices went to head to head...in the next two weeks they face their master :):roos:

Hilarious to see BF forums raving about Cripps today. Because it's so impressive to dominate against a basket case like St Kilda.

Meanwhile, Hogan embarrasses last year's AA defender in Alex Rance, AND kicks two goals in wet conditions. Not even a contest for rising star.

Did you watch the game. If Brayshaw had the game Cripps had we would be wetting ourselves and wanting both to get it this week. Hogan, McCarthy and Cripps performances are all clearly worthy of the nomination this week and would have it in the bag most other weeks. Expect Hogan to get it as he is so different to other kids as well as Friday night football increased media awareness.

Giants look amazing, so much depth of quality in their midfield and Patton to come back into the side.

If we are off our game freo are going to destroy us.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
