Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Didn't read the article, got bored with every "expert" under the sun getting stuck in to Watts, but can I just say one thing on this topic;

I won't have the luxury of going to the MCG tonight to watch the beautiful way in which our diggers will be remembered through the pregame ceremony, and I won't be able to see the Melbourne Football Club play as a team and demolish the Richmond Football Club, in a gentle reminder to the football community that we are relevant again.

However, regardless of what you think of the bloke, Watts is a Melbourne player, he will be one of 22 running out there tonight, and he will be one of 22 that will hopefully get us over the line. Regardless of your thoughts of him, if he, or any of the other 22 players have a bad night, for Christ's sake, don't "boo" him. I couldn't give a toss if one of their supporters gets in to him, but our own "flesh and blood", it makes me cringe when I hear of such things.

There's always going to be players that we love, that we hate, that we love to hate, and that we wished we didn't hate. Watts is definitely one of those players that cops more than most - I'm not going to get in to the argument if that's rightly or wrongly. We're asking for unity at our club, both on and off the field. How about we show unity ourselves by supporting all of our 22?

Go Dees.

Best post I've read on Demonland in my decade odd of coming here.

Just to annoy myself, I've picked Jack Watts for my 'perfect 9' game selection (a supercoach side-game).

Plus, it's Richmond.

Also, Jack Watts is a pretty good player who sometimes throws out a top-notch game, I figured, why not this week?

Plus, it's Richmond.

YAY! ANOTHER JACK WATTS THREAD.

No, really, let's talk about him some more.

Where would you like to start ?:)

For all the Jack Watts bashers out there, i'd advise that they lay off him for a just a couple and focus their anger on Dawes. The way he started last year was fantastic, which shows he has the ability to do so. He's done SFA for the last 2 rounds, and was meant to be in the best shape of his footy career. Well it's time for him to put up some runs for the MFC. Hogan is putting him to shame indesire of the footy.

We need Dawes to stand up tonight more than Jack Watts, because at least Jack (besides a couple of brain fades last week) does something with the ball when he gets it. Dawes needs to be a big target leading up from CHF, or else we ain't gonna have much chance tonight. Hoges can't do it all FFS (well he can, but shouldn't have too)

Jack was ok. He put in the effort, got into the packs and tackled. He needs to keep his eyes on the ball when he goes for marks and learn when to use hands and when to take it on his chest. That being said despite his poor stats this was a big improvement on last week.

Realistically, and I am a great fan, he surely needs a month at Casey to learn to enjoy his game and build a bit of confidence. He has none at present

He will return

Jack was ok.

Seriously??

Even his great apologist Duck figures he needs some help.

jacks games was summed up with his pinpoint pass to the opposition.

I don't like seeing a really talented guy suck at it so much.

His presence was about 90% ineffective tonight.

I'm really not sure what he ADDS to the pie currently.

HE didn't get much ball, took 3 marks for the game and had one absolute shocker of a kick, but he actually got involved in the play a lot more than last week. He wasn't good, but he actually put in an effort and put his body in which is the area we all really want him to work on. I agree he probably needs a few weeks at Casey bullying VFL players to build up his confidence, but tonight was an improvement.

Yep, I'd run him in the midfield at Casey for a month.

He needs touch, that 'short and sharp' work. I would even encourage him to play basketball midweek - like Jarrad Brennon did at the GC.

The club needs to change its tact with Watts, they need to find other ways to build his confidence, and improve his touch.

Tonight for mine, Watts was off in some of the non-negotiables. He just didn't seem interested most of the night and only started to do some constructive things after wewere well and truly on top.

Hogan (in only his 4th game) throughout the night showed fantastic endeavour, whereas Watts (now in his 7th year) really lacked the desire we ask for all players' to bring when in the team. Granted it wasn't a great night for talls (aside from Hogan), but he has lost the hunger (not for the contest - he has never had an appetite for it), but for effort and endeavour. Give him a decent spell at Casey, as there are a few guys playing down there that would dearly lovea chance to be recalled back to the 1's.

Watts had a reasonable crack tonight ... credit where it is due.

His skills were down and so is his confidence but I thought he was improved from last week (in terms of his effort & endeavour) Not great by any means but he still got the ball 14 times (7 of which were contested)

He won't be going out of the side either - we're almost certainly going to need to find 2 replacements for Kent & Jetta and that won't be easy. Whichever 2 players come in need to be hard at it with reasonable or better disposal skills . Finding 3 such players out of the 2's would be a real stretch

Our forward line functioned well tonight considering the conditions so why change things up?

He didn't have a great game again today, but for opposite reasons to usual. Thought he put the required effort in but his skills were just atrocious.

He'll absolutely be in the side for Fremantle. We'll have 2 forced changes and there's no way Roos is going to make a third to a winning side.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
