Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We have Gawn, Spencer, Fitzpatrick and Pedo and none of them fill me with confidence. Our tall timber stocks might need reviewing if one or two of these names can't claim and hold onto a spot with frosty out.

Jamar has 1 year left at best. Russian looks gassed. Who has what it takes to be a top ruck?

I think Spencil will come in for Frost and one of JKH and Kent needs to go.

Watts is on very thin ice.

I reckon JKH is not yet up to the tempo of the game at AFL level but I don't think he's going to get that by playing VFL. I'd like to see him stay. Also, I'd suspect Kent's early hit on <insert adelaide player here> will come under scrutiny.

Are we one too tall with Frost? Once he went off we didnt feel too small. Although I would like some support for Jamar I just think we are one too tall. Saying that I dont think we drop anyone unless we have too (injury or suspension). Some bad individual moments but not enough to really demand someone being dropped. What an odd feeling.

out : Frost, Jetta ( ducking to avoid conflict cost us a goal) Kent

In : Gawn, Grimes & Michie.

Assuming the casey form is much the same as last week.

Worst post of the year.

I can't even deal with this. Seriously. Can you find the footage. All I saw from Jetta was him keeping Betts to 1 goal and winning a heap of contested possessions.

Are you one of the clowns who think Jetta took a dive in the first game?

Kent???? For Michie. Laughable. Yeah he misses some chances. But seriously. He's not going anywhere.

Last quarter.

And no. I wasn't one of the clowns.

Jetta is one of my fav. players.

But when you duck like he did today, sorry he must pay the penalty.

He won't though because he gave Betts an absolute bath.

I notice though that you aren't dropping Watts even though his was far more blatant... care to explain?

I think we are still playing 2 mids short in the 21. Brayshaw should start. One of JKH or Kent should play as sub. Frost out injured. Just bring in another runner (Michie, Toumpas, Jones or Grimes) and put up with Dawes playing small minutes as ruck relief. Its not like Richmond have two recognised rucks.

We still need run and speed. Particularly in a substitute if we're hoping they get through to 3/4 time to make an impact.

Yet I don't want to add Toumpas unless they are confident it will be a real Toumpas. Confident. Skilled. Speedy. Hard at it.

Would love to drop Watts. Maybe the sub role? But if we don't play a 2nd ruck we need someone who can draw the ball. Notice I didn't say take a mark. I think he stays. But if Roos, Jones or anyone else gets the question about his play this week they better not sugar coat the answer.

So someone in for Frost. I agree it's worth the risk of Dawes rucking. Don't mind the Watts rucking idea either.

Yeah Michie's probably the frontrunner for the spot. But I want to see reports that he's really impacting the game and running!!! Otherwise Matt Jones, Roh Bail, James Harmes or even Billy Stretch in as the sub. Why not?

So his three goals last week did nothing for you. Played of the HBF in the last quarter and kicked a ripper on the run. I think he would contribute more than JKH did today.

Matt Jones > Jetta - Looked lost down back today... more work needed at VFL level. Jones isn't the greatest player of all time but at least he runs lines out of half back and makes his opponent work hard going the other way. Jetta rarely does this. Jones would need to clean up his disposal skills and choices coming off HB though as he was pretty horrid last year and will often undo his good work with some pretty bad clangers in mid field. I would rank Jones a fair margin above Jetta at this stage of their carreers in a team ranking sense.

Michie > JKH - doesn't look ready for rigours of AFL right now week in and week out. Would only play him within a 40 meter arc of goal at this early stage of his career hovering around HULK in small stints for 10 minutes here and there IF he is in. Lost anywhere else. Loves to kick goals and knows where the goals are unlike most of our other forwards atm and worth persevering with in this role. However, at this stage of their careers i would also rank Michie well ahead of JKH in a total match (output) team ranking.

Perderson > Watts - [Pedersen] for all day gut running/effort/attack on the ball/ball carrier and occasional overhead mark. Can kick occasional goal but not the most gifted player in general play. Watts the opposite of all this and probably about the same output on the scoreboard if Pedo played up forward. Pedo will at least bring more balls to the ground in a contest as well which might give our smalls a few more opportunites to goal. I don't expect Pedo will give all that much more in a scoreboard sense than Watts but at least he wont do as many of the moral sapping things that we see Watts do a little too often.

I would only play Dawes through HB and Ruck (when resting the Russian). Useless up forward and will only get in the road of the Hulk's development. Replace with Howe for the X factor and ability to take an overhead keping the ball in OUR forward line for longer periods of time easing the pressure off our D a little.

OUT: Frost

IN: Pedersen

Let's reward our team's good efforts this week by setting this as our base team. You want in? Earn it in the VFL.

could be Frost inj, & Watts vomited. for Spencil, & Bail/MJones/Toumpas? or as you say, just the one change with Pedo for frosty. frosty hasn't given us a lot since the first game, I think.

I think we need better marking power up front, & also some more willing run.

I hope today puts an end to all the talk of having Dawes as the fill in ruck. For all the talk of concrete hands, they've got nothing on his bricks for feet. The guy can't jump at all.

Question for Pig Dog et al, when was this alleged duck of Jetta's that cost a goal? If it's the occasion I'm thinking of, my view was that he fumbled it then got pushed off the ball while surrounded by three crows players on his own. I'm not ever in favour of dropping a player over a single incident, but if that's the one then you are being harsh to the point of ridiculousness.

That is the incident, I looked at it several times.

The fumble was only because he took his eye off the ball because the forth coming high tackle.

So in that split second, reflex moment he should have __________________ instead?

I stand by my comment of harsh to the point of ridiculousness then. If you want to blame his fumble on a lack of desire to have his head removed from his body, then I'll never endorse that and I doubt Roos will either. I get criticising players for soft efforts - a non-marking effort by one of our forwards today sticks to mind - but jeez, I think players also have a right to safety.

My opinion your opinion.

As for the other incident I only watched the 2nd half.

Watts is the softest "good" player I've seen. But he's not going to get dropped over a couple of spilt marks when marks are routinely dropped by others.

If I'd been in charge he'd no longer be on the list, but he'll play because he is on the list and if we want to beat Richmond a good Watts game can make a difference.

We've gone in 1 midfielder short the last 2 weeks.

In both games one of Dawes or Frost shouldn't have played and Michie should have.

Must get the balance right against the Tigers and every week after that

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
