Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Kiss of death? Didn't the Meatloaf fiasco teach them anything?

I can think of a very, very large number of reasons.

What are they?

Cost is the main one. AC/DC wouldn't come cheap. But in terms of suitability, stature and performance, they'd blow every past act out of the water.

I'm all for KISS.

You need someone well known and who can genuinely perform and at the right price.

Modern acts aren't broadly known from ages 15-60, will cost way too much or just wont cut it with performance.

I get they are passed their prime, but the most successful in the last decade if ever was Lionel Richie who performed the pants off the crowd with well known songs. If KISS bring that then it will work.

Yep I think it's all cost related. But if the AFL ever go to a night grand final to get more viewers they should justify that cost to fans by bringing in AC/DC paying them whatever it is they need.

Agree, it is just meant to be a short sharp bit of fun, I go to concerts/bars/clubs if I want to enjoy the band, Richie did it perfectly, hopefully if KISS get the gig they will be shown that vision,

I was made for lovin' you/rock and roll all nite//god of thunder/god gave rock and roll to you/......that should cover it

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros would be great. They are terrific live. ..............What about "James"...they are are awesome live as well. These two options are way better than Kiss. Not sure on the fee though.

Funny you know... I had seen live footage of them and was really excited about seeing them... then I did see them at Bluesfest and they were atrocious... appallingly bad. The front man was off his face and up himself backwards, to the point where the other band members were looking a little pee'd off (and rightly so). I guess I caught them at a bad time, but I thought it was a pretty poor effort to treat their fans like that.

I think they should get 'Steel Panther'...very entertaining and the show would create headlines around the world for the AFL.

Saw them at Soundwave a week back and they threw respect for woman back to the dark ages.

I was outwardly aggrieved but internally chuckling - a parody of a parody on a parody.

We all have individual tastes in music but we are trying to showcase Australian Rules Football - so we import an overseas act ? I thought Tom Jones and Ed Sheeran did well last year but my question is why ? Why we can't showcase Australian talent at Australian Rules Football Grand Final.

seeing as how the afl are going rainbow, why not relocate the romsey gay and lesbian mardi gras march to the grand final 1/2 time

Kiss is irrelevant, all the old dad rock bands are just remainders of a by gone era- nobody listens to that crap anymore. You want someone who will get you world wide exposure and put you on par witht what they are trying to emulate (America), get One Direction, Miley or even the beibs in and millions of ppl worldwide will have a look, if only to see their idols.

so what's the point? are we promoting music or football

the beauty of afl football is that the game itself is continuously exciting and interesting, no need for great distractions to fill the voids like in soccer or nfl

all that is needed for half time is something low key and entertaining. plenty of local talent

and p.s. ffs drop the afl sprint......it is embarassing

TISM for me.
They aren't going to get a guernsey for Eurovision sadly as the softc**k Aussie recording industry would like someone vanilla like Guy Sebastian.
There are plenty of AFL references in their music as well. They could even hire the man mentioned in the following song to play triangle on 'I rooted a girl who rooted a guy who rooted a girl who rooted a guy who rooted a girl who rooted Shane Crawford'.

My mate's and I have this discussion every year. Consensus usually is for an Aussie band, but it has to be someone who will get people a little excited and has a good stack of hits, not just the flavour of the week (remember the Temper Trap, bloke just stood there, had the whole runway and boringly didn't move).

My vote who ticks all the boxes is The Living End. Almost everyone knows them, they have lots of hits and they have energy and put on a show. Dunno how many other Aussie bands (apart from Acca Dacca) would tick all the boxes

How about ANY artist born post 1980? What is this obsession the AFL has with ageing has-beens?

You answered your own question.

They are ageing hasbeens.

Has beens are cheaper than head liners.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
