Brock McLean

It would have been much more difficult.

What Brock said on the couch was correct.

Whether he should have said it is another issue.

But it was a "No pain No gain" scenario

Somebody had to talk....

Why? No one talked at Carton, Libba tried, the next day apologised and they went about their business. I'm pretty sure we were heading for big trouble with Neeld etc anyway and the subsequent need for Jackson and Roos to come in. I'd rather have done it with less players using the tanking excuse and without the 500k fine and other damage to the club.

Will be playing for Aberfeldie next year

Maybe he's moved into the area.

If Brock were to come back to the club it would be more about getting experience at Casey which is badly needed. I Couldn't really see him pushing for senior selection now.

so, let casey sign him up then

I would be seriously disappointed if the club took this decision. Surely we have enough midfielders now in the system to provide depth and to cycle thru for experience.

Fact or fiction aside, I lost all respect for the bogan after his OTC interview which put the club and its supporters under considerable duress and ultimately led to a $500K fine.

F-him.

yeah, nah.

No way, why would you want a whinging, carping moaning pain in the butt like him in the club. he cost us half a million and cost cuddles his job. I dont care if he was as good as Dangefield he is not wanted rot in hell

The club was always going to get damaged. Schwab got it completely wrong.

If he was still CEO now we would be down to about 15,000 members tops

Brad Green also talked days before 186 about what was going on to Mike Sheehan.

Mclean was asked direct questions, it is pretty hard to not answer them in the same way.

Brock was a pawn in the whole saga imo

Those asking the questions are the ones who knew what would happen once it went public

Everyone knew he was right but he did it while being a Carlton player - the team that were the biggest of all tankers. His hypocrisy was breath taking, especially considering his behaviour at our club was very ordinary. Let him rot in Aberfeldie.

If he was in the side, he would be taking the place of others I would prefer to be playing. We drafted Cross and Vince to help out Jones as the seniors in the midfield - I don't think we need another.

I'd see him as the opposite.

Last in line for selection but there as an insurance policy if we get a ton of injuries, and there to play the last 4 or 5 games of the year when Petracca, Brayhaw, JKH etc hit the wall like the kids did in 2014.

I would have thought the comments of both Libba and Fev went a lot further than those of Brock.

Can't stand the [censored], yet at the same time, wasn't our current messiah also OTC.

I don't give a bit about his past but ask myself, could he help us. With a very young midfield I would consider him as a sensible insurance policy in case a couple of our senior players were injured

Rumour file says he's donned the moccasins and moved to a farm near Moe to live with his cousins who play the banjo.

Should feel right at home doing wheelies all the way along the freeway back to Cranny.

I say, it's a yes!

His social life which I've witnessed personally is a brilliant reason I don't want him anywhere near this young list.

What did Brad Green say to Mike Sheehan about tanking? I must have missed that part of the programme.

If I remember rightly, McLean was said to have left the club when he was offered a lower contract figure by the club than he was being paid on his old contract and Carlton offered him more. When he appeared on OTC he inferred he left because of the tanking he alleged was going on at Melbourne but we all know Carlton were the masters of the art of tanking so if that's so, why do you think he chose them?

BTW, I do agree he was a pawn in the whole saga, but if so, who made used him as a pawn and for what purpose?

i was always under the impression that the MFC offered Mclean to Carlton

He wasn't given a choice.

He answered specific questions truthfuly.

It was Vlad who had his head deep in the sand.

I will always remember the SEN commentary of the Richmond game in 2009

It was cringeworthy. Everyone knew what was going on.

Even KB had to admit it and he sure didn't want to!!

Outlandish it may be, but I've now heard this rumour from two unconnected directions. Might have a bit more traction than we think. That being said though, we only have two rookie spots and there are some decent young players who would kill for one of them.

If you bring in an older player it is best to go for someone of exceptional character such as Daniel Cross.

Surely we could do better than McLean.

Anyway our need is more for support of our ruck division.

As an aside I couldn't believe that Darren Jolly and Sellar put themselves in the draft.

Comments on the couch? Costing "cuddles" his job?

A. Did we tank?

If yes..

B. Doesnt matter how we got caught doing it, if we did it, we suffer

Dont shoot the (minor part of it all) messenger here guys

Could Brock McLean help us win more than 4 games in 2015, is the only question that needs to be asked here. If he spends 15 games taking hits at Casey while Stretch and ABN get 30 touches a game, so be it. If he comes in for 10 games and covers the role Trengove wouldve played, then even better.

Everyone goes on about "Whatever it takes" but turns their noses up at someone who used to bleed for the club because of a few poorly timed, but entirely true comments. If brock makes us 1% better then so be it

Jolly doesn't surprise me as much as Sellar. I feel a little mean but Sellar nominating is laughable. He wasn't a standout in the WAFL, averaged 17 disposals with South Fremantle.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
