Lets not change the Banner until after New Years Eve, out of Honor for our Tulip ?

Can someone make & sell colored Arm Bands for our 1st Home game, at the ground or from H/Q after the new years 2015... in some appropriate colours or patterns that we can all buy & wear into the ground In Honour of Our favourite son.

ArM Bands

Head Bands

Tulip 'T's shirts

proceeds split 50/50 between Robbies foundation, & Our Clubs Warchest ???

how about keep it, until late in the season when some of our players are starting to really make things happen?

whichever season that might be...

i mean, when there's few of our guys who have arrived, in the sense of not just being our best, but getting the job done, knocking over other teams' best, and being a story really worth telling. Why run mediocrity up the mast? Robbie inspires us...

How about when we start to put players on the banner they have to earn it by performance. Not because they were draft pick 1! Not because they are going to leave! Not because they share the captaincy!Make it worthy and desirable by highlighting an indiviguals performance and contribution to the team

Put Don Lane up for all I care.

the banner should consist of Norm Smith, Ron Barassi, Robbie Flower, Garry Lyon, Jim Stynes, David Neitz and Nathan Jones

Agree and probably leave it for the entire 2015 season.

I agree, this banner should only have the greats of our club as only one of the current playing list deserves to be up there.

A worthy gesture, Rob would be humbled by this, I agree till new year. As he would say

Schwarz before Lyon or Neitz, please - and Jones simply isn't in that league... He'd look silly up there beside Norm Smith, Barassi, Flower and perhaps Schwarta.

I reckon new years is a good idea.

New year is all about moving forward right?

2015 is a season afresh.

Let Robbie's legacy stand as sentry til the new year when others can hopefully take up that mantle.

Strange at times the things we argue about here...and fortifying the things we can agree on :)

Agree with the OP sentiment

Also agree with others that a spot on the banner should be well earned, it's not about living in the past IMO it's about honouring the great champions of the club maybe gradually through time from Checker to Jones

Checker, Bluey, Smith, Barassi, Flower, Lyon, Stynes, Neitz & Jones

I would like to see players added to the Banner when they deserve it....Who is worthy out of current day players to be up there with R. Flower?

Nobody at this stage....That is the challenge

Gee I love this annual debate about who should be on the banner. The relative value of players is very much clouded by who people have seen in their lifetimes.

Why not go left field and put up 12 AFL Premiership Cups and an empty pedestal to be filled by the 13th?

(Actually, I don't really care. I enjoy what Demonland (ie, Andy) provides for us and am quite happy to leave it in his hands.)

agree this is why I wanted our legends on the banner... only put the current players up there IF/When they deserve it... It should be a roll of honor, not try hards or potentials.

Only the Jones boy has shown he has what it takes to be a real Demon. none of the others of our current crop come near him, & are nowhere Near Mr Tulip.

As much as i love Bobby on the banner, he looks a bit folorn by himself, like he's looking behind him to see where the support is! ...where the f did everyone go type thing.

Can we have more then just one picture of Robbie in the banner?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
