Now that trade period is done and dusted its time to look to the draft.

Jake Lever is 192cm and 84kg and spent his junior career as a defender but he is keen to move into the midfield.

I hope we seriously look at this kid as personally I think he would compliment Brayshaw much better then Petracca would.

He has outstanding overhead marking ability which is what we need in the midfield, he moves like Fyfe and isnt scared of a contest.

I still think we should take Mcartin. Maybe that's just me talking as I don't want him falling to St kilda at pick four if they trade to GWS for their pick one

An adamant 'yes please' from me. I think I have read / heard somewhere that Roosy likes him a lot!

This kid won me over after listening to him speak recently. In his rehab year he spent time as a midfield coach, pretty impressive. He looks like he would eat a contest and has the skills to match.

Much more dynamic then Petracca, we need our mids contesting overhead. Imagine how damaging he could be if he ducks forward. At 194cm he ll show Watts how its done.

I'd rather we not draft injury prone players.

Obviously doen't always translate to the field, but a 3.2sec in the 20m sprint? Dang, Trengove ran sub 3sec. That's slow as hell.

Enormous talent!

The kid captain Vic Metro last year as a bottom ager so it just shows the leadership qualities he presents something Paul Roos screams for. A huge endorsement from his peers.

He is probably the closest thing in terms playing ability to Nathan Fyfe where he is that tall midfielder who is very courageous in the air and can take a big pack mark. Has a huge leap him. He is cool and calm under pressure and shows good poise with ball in hand.

Don't pencil him in as a defender he will be drafted as a mid by us could make a big impact in years to come.

Very driven and determined character and for what its worth he was apparently close to representing Australia in Boxing so not only is he a very hard trainer he is also a tough nut!

A 194cm midfielder to go along with Viney, Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem, Kent, Michie, Toumpas, JKH has the potential to become a potent midfield in years to come.

As we are about to start our slow climb up ladder, its time to just take the 2 best players.... if next year or the one after one of our young players is interested in a trade out we can then deal for good picks to get back into it.

happy enough if we go Brayshaw, plus a Mcartin,,,, or whoever the best are.

WOW! He can mark and tackle and kick goals and run both ways and play on and doesn't move the ball backwards!! No wonder Roos likes him!

Practically a starting 22 player then.

As I said in another thread, I was told we would take him at three. I said no way, still don't believe him but he seemed very confident.

No idea if he is a good source or not, but very unlike him to make any sort of prediction.

This was written in Angus Brayshaws AIS diary in Europe.

''My thigh was still a little painful so I sat out this morning's training session, which was at a local soccer field about 15 minutes from our headquarters''.

''Because of that I trained with the rehabilitation group, which today was run by Jake Lever, who continues his comeback from a knee reconstruction at the end of last year. Jake led the way with some core work and boxing, which was pretty tough - even tougher considering Jake almost represented Australia in boxing at the 2012 Olympics''.

Then you wouldn't have drafted the likes of Selwood or Judd? Although shoulders seem to be easier to recover from than knees (however Porplyzia would argue against that)

The only thing that goes against us drafting Lever is that he will be a longer term investment, given his knee injury and height would see him take a little longer to settle. Not the ready to go midfield type Roos has been going after (like a Brayshaw or Petracca).

I'm not convinced a wiry 194cm kid can be a midfield, but Bontempelli is making a fair go at it.

That said as long as he has pace and can rebound the ball I'd take him as a backman even if the midfield is a dream.

A skillful and quick defender at 194cm can play every position in the backline and that alone is worth the investment.

Brayshaw, Lever or taking a shot on the talls doesn't bother me I'll back in Jason Taylor and Viney. I know we've got Stretch lined up as well but I'd love a classy outside player with the 2nd round pick.

I noticed, with the Trade Radio interview today that Lever was one of the first names Josh Mahoney mentioned when talking about going to the draft with 2&3. I think this kid plus Brayshaw will be in the Red and Blue if we don't trade picks tomorrow

Strewth you have me sold. He ticks all the boxes it seems especially with the boxing prowess. Leadership, aggression, sounds good.
