Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The HS this morning from my reading has Petracca pick one as a fait accompli.

In the article Petracca has apparently told the StKilda people - "I won't let you down"

"I won't let you down, I will go to Melbourne and do a $cully"

It probably is, but not definitely.

My take on it is that Petracca believes he will be a Saint and is just assuring whoever takes him, they will have a player who gives his best.

Might sound a bit simple but all the recent "expert" press is suggesting a clear top 3 is most peoples eyes. If truly the case then how bloody fantastic that we get two of them, and avoid the #1 pick mantle for our first pick.

I will be very happy with any of the two mentioned, then get them into our newly improved "good development" environment. Reality now is that these two young men will have a more experienced development coach in McCartney, plus a Goodwin than Scully and Trengove had in a senior coach with Bailey. We are miles in front and haven't even mentioned Roos.

I literally can't wait to see Brayshaw band Petracce/McCartin train the house down, get a heap of press, hype and play well pre season.....and not get picked rd1 cause we've got better options!!

If the Sun article on the Saints today is correct, Brayshaw is now a Demon.

It also said that the Saints have decided on their first pick.

Trying to unravel it I noticed that there were predictions of mids to come after their first pick, which suggested McCartin was their choice, but then I noticed a couple of key forwards mentioned and one training with them and I swung back to Petracca.

So again it looks like we come back to the same 3 in the order mentioned by most, unless the Dees overlook McCartin. Given what I heard last week at the meeting with Viney and Taylor that looks unlikely.

Conclusion, welcome to the Dees Angus and Paddy.

Looks likely now Redleg doesn't it, although I did notice this line in the article that still keeps the idea of McCartin to StKilda alive depending on how you choose to read it:

"The Saints traded in pick 21 for Rhys Stanley, believing the player they pick will exceed what the 23-year-old would have delivered if he had not been sent to Geelong".

What's your view on that comment?

We could drive ourselves nuts with this, but they could also be referring to McKenzie, who may be a target at 21/22.

It has no baring on who they will take at pick 1.

Would you trade Rhys Stanley for Luke Dunstan? Of course you would. That's what that trade was for.

I'm very confident the saints will use one of their first 4 and probably one of their first 3 picks on a tall and more than likely a tall forward because they've got a pretty thin group there and will have drafted some good mids. But you don't change your minds on pick 1 because you traded out Rhys Stanley.

Remember Pelchen was at the saints until a month ago and recently said you go best available at the top and consider needs the further down the draft.

I think it is a bit of a furphy that St Kilda are in such desperate need for tall forwards. They have Riewoldt obviously for the short term and Spencer White is breaking through and they have Tom Lee and Tim Membrey plus Longer and Hickey to fit in as well. The reality is Stanley May have struggled to get a game unless he played as the second ruck or key back, which assuredly is where he'll play for the Cats.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
