You mean, we're not downgrading pick 3 like olisik said?

Where did I say that? Stupid Caroline Wilson esque post trying to pass off a question as a fact. Well done

Howe, Dawes, Kent

Garlett, Hogan, Pedersen

with JKH and Watta on the bench

Wow! That's a forward line and a half!

It's better but on output miles off a top 8 forward line.

Bargain pickup, we probably had no plans to even use that pick.

With the Dees saying they are happy to keep picks 2 and 3 it may mean they have heard who St Kilda are going to draft.

Petracca , Brayshaw, Lamumba, Stretch, Garlett…..and maybe Frost.

I would be happy with that. Few players such as Bail and Mckenzie could be a little worried.

Must come with baggage to have been that cheap (yes I know about the charges etc). That is bargain bin stuff.

Can't go wrong with this IMO. He's clearly a talented player and has three solid seasons on the board, with only one really poor one in this year. Much to gain, little to lose.

By the way, if anyone wants to pre-emptively pan him and/or the club for recruiting him in anticipation of it all going pear-shaped in 12 months time, speak now or forever hold your peace. There is a chance this may not work out, so I'd like the nay-sayers to put their hand up now rather than spitting a nana later.

Didn't we have a good little small forward called Jeff before ?????

He was good as I recall.

Posted

Obviously was unsettled off field in 2014.

He obviously has elite level talent.

Hopefully he has his life outside of football sorted and puts in a hard pre season and fulfills his talent in 2015 and beyond.

That would be a massive win for the Mighty Dees.

McKenzie should be but Bail's ability to run long and hard at a good pace is a talent Roos' values as exemplified by his contract extension.

Interesting to hear that Flash got in his ear about making the move.

Pretty excited about this. He's only 25 and his best is up there with any small forward in the league. Pick 61 is total steal.

Bail was one of the few who could get forward in space and kick a goal last yea. That's value adding.

While not the most inspiring interview of all time I though it was quite a refreshing to have a player who hasn't been trained to churn out the same old lines. Also like the fact he said when he's enjoying his footy he plays his best, which I think fits nicely with the coaching approach of Roos.

So in the last 4 yrs he has kicked 48 goals and 43 goals in a year. The last time a Melbourne player did that was......? Anyone??

Was initially against the idea. Taking into consideration his age, what we paid and the current state of our list I'm very interested to see how this plays out. From the players Roos brought in last year Cross and Vince had the runs on the boardI, Tyson had potential and lived up to it. There's a little bit of "this could go either way" about it.

Welcome Jeff, as pineapple noted great name for a MFC Indigenous small forward. It's going to be a mighty pre season which hopefully will have him cherry ripe for 15. And great work by Nev and Flash, Very happy to hear Flash is in the background putting a good word in and you'd reckon happy to mentor and support as needed.

And congratulations MFC on a low risk but potentially massive upside trade.

Firstly, Welcome to Melbourne Football Club Jeff Garlett. May you ( & We) have a long and fruitful career together.

On listening to his interview on the MFC Website, IMHO, I believe he lost track this year when he lost his friend and confidant Eddie Betts to Adelaide. So he may have been easily led astray. (He mentioned he played his best when he had 'Good People & Good Energy around him)

As Jeff said he gets along well with Neville Jetta (both being from W.A.) who will be able to teach him what it takes to resurrect oneself. Also that he spoke to Davey who can now also be a good role model for him.

I feel that with like minded Friends & Community, such as Nev & Flash (& others) there is more potential for the best in Jeff Garlett, ie Good People & Good Energy.

Is it just me or did anyone else think he looked a trifle less than enthusiastic in that interview. Looked like he was pushed rather than jumped. MM must really have had a beef with him. Wonder what that's about. Hopefully whatever it was/is will be gone. Assuming they are this could be one of the MFC's few steals in recent times. Nasher what charges were you referring to.

On another note. Aren't genetics a [censored]. Buddy is his first cousin their mothers are sisters. Buddy is 198cm's and built like the proverbial and Jeff is 180cm's and built not like the proverbial.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
