GRAND FINAL-WHO ARE YOU GOING FOR?

Did like the Swans as a child and always despised the Hawks.

Will be hoping for a Swans win although they are a bunch of rorting scumbags.

They need plenty more flags to catch us up.

Be nice if some ACLs popped today.

Nasty of me I know.

Don't really care - will make a profit regardless of who wins. A Sydney win would be better purely for the meltdowns Hawks fans will have. Their sense of entitlement is up there with Bummers fans - just sickening.

My dad was born in South Melbourne in 1935 and had to wait his entire life to see a flag. I can't stand what the Swans have done to get Tippet and Buddy, but this Swans team is the best single year team in my living memory. They do not have a flaw across the 22 and that is very difficult to achieve.

Swans by 28 points.

I have enormous respect for the professionalism of both clubs. I'm hoping for a great game today, but I reckon the Swans forward options will win out in the end. Swans by 39 points.

Snagged $4 on the Hawks To Win so I thought 'why not?' Not much else riding on this game for me though - the past few years I've always backed the Hawks in because of my Grandfather and his passion for them but since he's passed my allegiance has dissipated - he also lost a lot of love for the game in his later years since it's changed a lot since he was playing.

Also wouldn't mind seeing Sydney win as I think it might create an interesting 'No more COLA' movement if they were to run over the Hawks easily - more football drama that doesn't involve the Dees but something that might help us out in the short/long term.

The COLA is already being abolished.

ill probably be so drunk by 3/4 time that i wont care....

However, the thought of the hawks equaling us for flags hurts so ill be going for the swannies. thats reason enough i guess.

i think the hawks will pinch it though.

It hurts that all of theirs have come since our penultimate one. Basically all through my adult years. Still, my schooldays were a great time to be a Demon fan. Finals every year from prep to year 11.

Better than Essendon in 2000?

Yes, I think so. I thought Rioli was very flaky and you could get inside his head. This Sydney team is the best single year 22 I have ever seen. The Hawks kicking game and finals experience will be a factor but the Swans have got a unique thing going: they are a team of champions that have merged into a champion team.

I hope the Swans win because it'll drive another stake into the heart of the NRL.

Sydney-siders are a fickle bunch, and love a winner. AFL's really gaining momentum up here, and a successful Swans team is good for the code IMO.

Swans by 20. Kennedy to win the Norm Smith.

Why do we need to drive a stake into the heart of NRL?

Both Australian rules and rugby league have managed to run highly successful competitions for many years and I would think that will continue.

Sydney's current and future success have been heavily underwritten by the AFL at the cost of clubs such as ours.

The code is in no imminent danger whether they are successful or not.

I just want whoever loses to be robbed in spectacular style and become emotionally scarred from it forever. Too much?

I'm going for Sydney cos if Melbourne can't win it I want no one from Melbourne to win it.

Too late to change my prediction?

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
