Pick 3 & our 2nd round pick to St Kilda in exchange for Pick 1 & their 3rd round Pick.

Thought process is we agree to not select McCartin 1st up allowing him to fall to St Kilda and we can take Petracca & Brayshaw 1, 2 assuming none of Dangerfield, Shiel or Treloar are interested in coming over. We also then have an additional 3rd round pick to land Frost while St Kilda get 3 picks inside the top 25. They'll trade one for Jaksch with the threat of playing hard ball and taking him in the PSD if GWS don't play ball.

If they are so keen on McCartin then why would we bother?

Just take Petracca at 2 and keep Pick 21.

If we don't paly ball it may potentially mean they bid on Billy, or they take Petracca Pick 1 as they may feel compelled as he's clearly the best player in the draft.

JKH? get out.

yep, all those should be trad-able IF the right offer comes along. JKH is handy but too light & lacks top speed to have a real impact in our team as it is currently.

I've kept the real honest competitors as must keeps, & the talented young who haven't had time yet. such as Hogan, Salem... Others talents are in the trade-able column as they haven't shown enough yet or they could be value as trades for gun picks. Not to eject them, but to advance the list.

most haven't shown enough hunger yet, to get our on-field culture rolling uphill towards the direction of a strong & willing one, that we can all be proud of.

I think they'll draft Petracca.

Reiwoldt is getting on but in last few years they have also lost Goddard, Dal Santo, Jones & Hayes, also Montagna is closing in on 31.

I think they'll try and swoop on Clark or trade a forward in.

Word is they'll take Petracca on the street but anything is possible this time of year.

I don't get this one.

If the Saints want McCartin they take him at 1 we take Petracca and Brayshaw 2 and 3.

Under your deal we trade 1 for 3 and 2nd round for 3rd round but promise to not take McCartin

So we take Petracca at 1 and Brayshaw at 2 McCartin to Saints at 3.

So out of that deal with downgrade our 2nd round pick to a third round pick and pile the pressure of a number 1 pick on a kid we would have got anyway.

Something is missing

Not sure that several have had that much opportunity to show said hunger.

Need to give those who have been on the list one year a chance to get in a decent pre season.

Harmes,Hunt,JKH,King have not had any chance to shine yet and we need to give this group that chance, after all they were brought in by the current football department.

As I just mentioned on the Sam Frost thread, that deal is done (To MFC) barring any left field offers. I also was told Tom Lonergan is off to Bulldogs, Levy Casbolt has obviously resigned at Carlton and it was confirmed that Essendon Players are seriously under siege from most clubs.

Jake Carlisle has almost $1Mil/year offers from Freo & Western bulldogs and even though he wants to stay (most of them want to stay) at Essendon If he was on $400k/year, can you refuse $1MIl???? eg Scully/GWS. Adelaide also want him but not sure if they offering the same $$$$

As I mentioned Goldsacks girlfriend is trying to get him back to Adelaide despite the talk of him resigning with Collingwood. Was told that Players partners often throw spanners into the works and this was a frustrating issue with player managers

Couldnt get any other details about the Dees. (oh yeh it was mentioned that Rivers may be on shaky ground at Geelong??, personally not sure why as i thought he was one of their best in their last final)

Hopefully Dangers partner thinks about what she could do with the 8 mil for 7 years then

Would be a dream but the same source has not heard anything regarding Dangerfield to MFC but my contact is close to a player manager. Not sure who manages Dangerfield

One from left field.

Offer pick 3 if we get it for Chip compo, to Swans, plus another player/pick for Mitchell and Reid.

Then get into Ben Reid, who is injury prone, but with ability like MC. Tell Reid we will give him a fair contract and take a risk, which Pies might not be prepared to do and give him the opportunity to play with his brother. Then swap MC and player/pick for Reid and maybe Lumumba.

Use pick 2 for Petracca or Brayshaw. Stretch at 2nd or 3rd round and add Frost and then with remaining picks, draft or trade for outside mids.

That is a real change to the side. It is a dream.

Bit of chat about my mate Toby Green. Depending on what happens at court on his birthday later this month, he is a chance to return home. He is a bit mischievous at times but an accumulator of the ball and has a massive tank.

Heard that we are über active with Adelaide and the Danger Danger trade is not that out there considering what we are offering.

As previously posted Clark for Lamumba plus some change likely to happen but for AFL assistance if he was to walk. Yet to decide what that is until commission meeting on the 22nd this month. That's when we will find out about priority pick also.

Same with attempting to swap picks 2 and 4 around with GWS with a player (watts) for possibly a sheil/treloar. They are in love with Petracca but we would want guarantee we would still get Brawshaw.

St kilda taking Petracca would throw a spanner in our works.

Roos taking off to Hawaii mid trade week so expect the dees to be busy early.

Sam Frost likely done deal for a shuffle of picks.

The blease, tapscott, Strauss currency will be speculative as they were 1st rounders and like Kane Lucas, may find a traded home. Expect not much more than an old pair of boots like we got for Cale Morton.

Brisbane are all over Peter Wright at pick 3 so don't be surprised if they come to play come trade week. Midfielder and a pick not out of the question for pick 3.

Love the statue of big Jim today. It is great to be a demon!

No truth in this at all..........hmm.

Interesting if true. That whole generation of coaches who were hired 3 years back: Neeld, Watters, Sanderson ... perhaps not working out as planned? The only one from that year who seems to be the real deal is McCartney, and he was probably the least fashionable/credentialed of any of them.

Just goes to show how hard it is to predict how coaches will turn out, though perhaps confirms that the best ones serve a long apprenticeship. Usually.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
