GNF was way off the mark with Clark.

We'll never know the full story, but I'd say he was completely on the mark with Clark.

No-one inside or outside the club knew that after getting back to full health Clark would turn around and do what he's done.

Now those two comments seem completely at odds with one another.

Look I don't care one way or the other. But if this all turns to nothing GNF's reputation will go from guru to .... well, choose your word.

I find it interesting that at Mitch's wedding on the weekend that Jones, Grimes, Howe, M Jones, Bail where there. If you had completely screwed the club why would both captains be there? Such a strange situation. We could be completely slamming this bloke and it could of been Roo's who shipped him out?

How about GWS gives us Cameron in return for us taking Scully back?

Only if they agree to pay 95% of scully's contract, he'll only be depth for us, & they keep fat phil in Sydney on their salary cap!!!! Lmao

It'll be soo sweet when they start losing players not just cause they're home sick but because of his contract. Still plenty of time left on it for that to happen, especially if they nab griffen.

I must admit, I've also found that intriguing. All smiles at Dawesy's bash as well, looking chummy with Bernie et al. On the surface he has pretty much spat on our club, considering all that's been done for him, yet the players don't seem to mind one bit.

It can be quite frustrasting sometimes being emotionally invested in something yet hardly ever being privy to all the details.

...... add to that LM, JG and we suddenly have a competitive team.

I've just gone through the AFL prospectus and the only player that could help us with the initials LM is Leigh Montagna. The other players are :-Liam McBean, Lincoln McCarthy, Luke McDonald, Luke McGuane annd Luke McPharlin. Can't see Montagna joining the Dees but the Saints do like offloading veterans to bring in the kids.

So do I, even though I know 95% is BS.

Still, I don't think I will get much work done this week, as I will be glued to DL.

I've done well. Flying out of Melbourne on Thursday and will miss the last two hours of the trade period to land in Queensland a few minutes after it all closes.

I won't miss trade week one bit though. Too much head spinning going on.

GNF has already corrected himself and said it's HL, as in Heritier Lumumba..

From BF, Devastating Boris (Melbourne supporter)

My mate works in the footy dept for GWS but as we all know Sydney is very small and he often gets swans news. He can't say anything more other than to strap myself in for a big week if everything goes well.

Ok...if we are to play GNF's guessing games..which clubs need to upgrade their round 1 picks.

1. Hawks gave pick 19 for O'Rourke (their 1st live pick is therefore around 40).

2. GWS seem likely to give up up pick 4 for Griffen (their 1st live pick is therefore low 20's)

3. Brisb and Adel if they give up their respective picks 5 and 10. Adel more likely as they need some youngsters because of 2 yrs of draft bans.

4. Sydney, if the AFL trading ban on getting players in this year and next then they may want picks

5. bombers need picks and us DL don't want any of their players but our recruiters might.

If one of GNF's players has not been mentioned before then I would guess the A grader is coming from the Hawkes!!! If I'm still guessing the other A grader is coming from GWS (maybe the 'downgraded' one if Plan A doesn't come off).

GNF, if you have been muted and we figure it out you will be in big trouble with your source for giving away those initials.

If the initials are just a redherring to confuse us DL's then we will mighty peeved as well!

Mate the initials are for the players who have nominated us Geoff Garlett and Lumumba.

Thanks for the clarification. How close were the guesses for the source clubs?

Fairly sure the only initials he has given away are JG (Jeff Garlett), and HL (Lumumba), so he hasn't given anything away there.

You keep saying the trade period ends thursday, but this is on the DL site under trade dates: Friday October 17, at 2pm - NAB AFL Trade Period closes

Am I missing something?

This is the biggest week for the MFC since the 2000 GF. I have been muted so no names will be mentioned, but if all goes to plan we will end up with 2 A Graders plus pick 2. The 2 players would enter our list as the 2 best players on our list. Roos may need to settle for a less experienced likely A Grader (a Tyson like) but this is not plan A. Don't be surprised if at least 1 of the players gained has been unmentioned on DL or the media. We are the main player in a massive game of chess. Roos is already a legend, on Thursday evening he may have become a God. A Demon God no less.

Have you heard anymore about Dangerfield? Are we still involved in something? Is there hope?

How will I get any work done this week? How?!?!

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
