GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Recommended Posts

We are the Melbourne Football Club. We have existed for 152 years and we have won 12 premierships.

Great players have graced our fields and given their all for nothing more than being part of the club. Some of those players have won flags and others like the great Robbie Flower just gave their all.

Mitch Clark played 12 games and took a few million dollars from us.

Will be the most hated player in history if he screws us over.

The good thing is that we have a competent administration and an A1 coach who will get the best result for the MFC, whether that's with MC or without.

Something which we haven't had for a very long time.

Needed some positivity so listened to Rooseys B&F speech. Our club is in good hands and I'm sure they will make the best of this situation but the circumstantial evidence is mounting that Mitch has been playing us like a violin and will end up being more reviled than any player I can recall.

Now that's a big call Gallus. Let's have some details.

The one thing that gives me confidence is our CEO is competent and appears to have a big pair of kahunas, PJ will be up for the fight! And will ensure we get something out of this. It appears MC colours are finally being shown. I'll be very interested to see how this plays out.

I hope we can negotiate a good outcome for the club.

To me anything less than Mitch playing with us next year just means we have been fooled again.

What a lot of weasle words Ive had to read about his condition.

Not really he is probably a very nice guy.

I think we should wait to pass judgement.

But hey,I liked the first part.

I agree rjay. I'm not sure what GNF has done or said to gain such implicit trust on the forum. Just another rumour monger IMO.

He seems to have the "inside word" of someone at the club but like journos he's only as good as his sources. What he has passed on could very well have been the understanding of the club which has since been shown to be incorrect.

Let's wait and see 'Gonzo'.

Reported on 'Ed and Dermy' that MC's manager stated he would come back but not with the Dees'. He is still listed and the Dees were likely to play hard ball and seek a trade. There was some shock/horror about the hard ball which softened just a tad when it was revealed that he had received a very generous pay out from the Dees. Mentioned that it was likely a Vic club.

No mention of value in terms of picks or players. Maybe around 20+ or a swap for Labamba - maybe why the meeting with Roos????

Hmmmmm, Roos would get the quick line breaking half back he wants, a swap for Mitchell boosts the midfield he says needs class as does the return of Trengove. That still leaves pick 2 for Brayshaw, Petracca or one of the talls - plus Stretch!!!! All we need to do then is to fluke a gun with our second rounder!!! Oh, and don't wake me up as I am enjoying this dream!!!!!

He did not attend the B&F

Thnx DN9

This plus the Twitter a/c comments above is stongly pointing to him, if he plays again it won't be with the MFC. Maybe another team has got to him.

Afterall, he has already proven he can be bought! Has also proven he is not a man of his word.

We fell for his charm fellow DL's.

Shattered by the betrayal.

Clark left Brissy a similar way .

His contract will have to be exited with all the legal stuff in order.

If it is going to make him miserable here and the rumours are true then he should go to perth.

At the moment we don't know.

If he tries to get to a WA club I reckon Melbourne should do what we can to get him there and take whatever we get back (late pick).

If he's trying to get to a different Vic club stuff him, refuse to deal and force him into the PSD and tell him we'll draft him again with our 2nd pick.

You can't change your handle on instagram, you have to start a new one. If he wanted the pressure of the number 11 gone and to take a step back from the footy world then he'd have to open a new account which is why all his old posts wouldn't be there.

Makes sense hey? Some people here are very quick to turn on a much loved and respected player.

Edit: I stand corrected.

Agreed.

I'm ok with him wanting to return home to Perth and would encourage our club to help make this happen. To be fair, if he wanted back home he would be there already. I know his partner studies here, but that's an easy transfer.

He's back in Melbourne presumably because he wants to be. If he wants to go to another club to chase success, then I hope we play hardball and get the best deal for us.

Enough getting screwed. We deserve better!

If this is all true then so be it.

He is one player and the team does not rise or fall on one player. If he wants to leave then he is better out of the club rather than sitting on our list clogging it up whilst he returns. He will be missed but as Paul Roos said at the B n F "We are in this together and if your not - you know where you can go"

I think we have collectively given MC every consideration and to be left swinging in the breeze without a statement, makes me want the club to go as hard as possible.

Well that's just weird.

I do have one theory, is it possible his account got hacked and he had to change his name?

It happened to me with Twitter where all of a sudden lots of weird stuff started appearing in my feed and I had to change my name and password.

I am probably clutching at straws here.

Come to the dark side Jaded....

I say this not as anything other than to suggest the "trending" of all this now seems to be quite clear. To review the recent past without Rosey '11" coloured glasses suggests there is nothing 'spur of the moment " about any of this

There's no joy here. Actually deep and unfettered sadness. As you put before there's a loss of belief. We had a right as a club, as a group of followers to believe that he was an honourable man .

Starting to feel a lot like Charlie Brown !!!

There was a (not unreasonable) suggestion here on DL that that comment from roos was directed at frawley. Perhaps it was actually about MC. Again I wonder if the request for a pp is related to this development.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe
