First thoughts on ballbag Barrett's comments are slight anger, then I remember it is Barrett.

That conniving rat will turn a whisper into a headline to get his name out there.

He has no idea what Clark wants and if or where he'll be playing next year.

Barrett should shut his mouth out of respect for Clark and his rehabilitation process. He retired to ease the pressure of a comeback and I doubt Barrett's conjecture would help.

If Clark returns in Melbourne but not for Melbourne then something has to have happened that we're not privy to. It makes no sense otherwise - we need him as a player and he's been a clear supporter of the club during his time out. It's not money either; we would be in a good position to pay him plenty.

So either there's something we haven't been told, or Barrett is just a windbag. Both scenarios equally likely.

If he goes anywhere else it might just be the final straw for me as a Melbourne supporter.

Can't keep getting punched in the guts like this.

Pretty much feel the same. It feels like we get screwed all the time by the AFL

if he plays for another Vic club I would be livid. Let's see but as you say something might be up. I wonder if the pp request is somehow related. Eg look we need to be compensated for loss of player we treated well, invested heavily in, in fact our best player and one of only 2 a graders. Sort if aligns with what Evans said about extraordinary circumstances

If this is true about the club being happy to trade him I will lose whatever faith I have in this bloody club.

No person is bigger than our club, and for some to suggest they would walk away if Mitch didn't return is ridiculous to say the least.

Club might think he's forked.

And if he breaks down again, then what, another meltdown?

Have you thought that maybe Mitch doesn't want to return to the MFC? Mitch owes us nothing.

Excuse me, he was signed on a 3 year $2m plus contract.

First part of prediction looks like coming true, he will return to AFL.

Just wait for the second, who with, I still believe us.

PFFT! Is that seriously fair dinkum comment?

Please...

That's footy. Injuries and illness are common in this workplace. We've reached a settlement with the player.

I'd love him back but I can understand the reasons why it may not happen.

There is the option that Melbourne don't want him, I'd heard rumours a while ago which I dismissed (and won't repeat) but maybe the club don't want him.

you are spot on!

Why wouldn't we want him?

Why on earth would the club not want him?

Will wait til we hear something concrete but geeze, this would be a real heartbreaker.

As I said, I've heard rumours but won't repeat them which makes me sound like a [censored], I know.

However, these rumours may be complete rubbish and not true at all. Just saying that maybe the club don't want him (as crazy as it sounds).

We may as well give up if we think Clark might make a return and we don't want him back.

Assuming that's rubbish and we would want him back, if he decides he wants to stay in Victoria but play for someone other than us I'm not sure there could be any worse thing to happen. Could this club suffer a bigger kick in the guts?

To say Mitch owes us nothing is just rubbish as I am sure a first round pick and 2 or 3 million for 12 games has to count for something. This club needs Mitch if he is healthy and fit more then EVER

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
