Watts and Dawes.....pleeeese!

I don't think it's just a matter of who is gone, it's a matter of who holds some value with trades and makes us a better team after the trade period.

The first to go, and I hate saying this as this board unfairly scrutinises him, is Watts. He has value with top 8 teams and hopefully we can raid a good consistent player. Watts just can't perform consistently. Goldsack for Watts is a possibility

Frawley is someone we should force to leave. Why? Because a first round pick is on offer we can trade that pick out for a Mitchell plus Reid type trade. I think the club is ripe to force the hand of Sydney with the Buddy/Tippett/etc/etc deals. Roos and his influence and history at Sydney will help with this type of trade.

Malceski is another I hope we trade for (3 or 4th rounder). This type of trade is a sweetener for the club arising from the Pick 3 trade.

Others with some value are Garland and Grimes. Grimes maybe our captain, but his skills stand out in a team like the MFC.

Jack Fitz is another who may get us another fringe player at another club. The Bullies may trade with us here.

If the club can get Reid, Mitchell, Goldsack and Malceski, we are a better team.

Just on my last post. A Backline consisting of

Jetta McDonald, Dunn

Malceski, Reid, Cross/Howe

Provides a good level of skills, experience, height and age spread.

running through our list, i'll just name the players we need to keep. The rest are expendable or, more likely a lost cause. Will be easier that way.

Hogan, N Jones, Salem, Viney, Tyson, Kent, Cross, Pedersen, Vince, JKH, Gawn, Jetta. That's 12 out of a total of 44 including rookies.

I have just under 3/4 of our list as couldn't care if they were delisted, traded, retired. WHat's more, we have been re-building since 2007, or 8 years, yet we have more problems in our list now, than we did back then.

FFS, it's a lost cause

Just another point. The club MUST pay 100% of the salary cap and get players into the club. It's just not good enough PJ saying the club can't afford it. Time the AFL gets involved.

does equalisation start next year?

I'll tell you who doesn't go: Nathan Jones

I care not for anyone else at this moment.

Jones, Tyson, Vince and Cross have been solid.

Thought Viney was decent across the backline at times today.

But a lot of players staring down the barrell.

Some tough decisions to make for Roosy, some players who haven't been on our list long - probably do need to go.

Is the Russian really up to it?

I WOULD PREFER FITZY or anyone who can get a touch.

Sorry Mark, but you cannot jump.

where are the leaders in that 12 ?

Ryan O'Keefe would currently be a better player than most of them. and leader.

leadership is key, & its gold. we need it in buckets at the moment.

Gawn was far better today.

I was going to take the same approach but could only come up with Jones, Tyson, Viney and Jetta - who I would classify as not expendable - Gawn would be close. The rest well we can't get rid of all of them, so the inexperienced would maybe get some reprieve, though the irony is not lost that conversely we need to keep experience; but I would canvas offers for any of the rest Now I have been a Watt's fan and apologist; but he is an example of someone I would be shopping, and based on today Dawes, and Frawley were equally passionless.

Good thread...action action action....call to arms.

Most of our cattle are not worthy of an AFL game. There is insufficient talent to piece a team together at the MFC.

How the hell does Peter Jackson sell hope now? Please explain this to me.

Football has become such a sad case at this club....there are many very sad sad supporter stories out there. Memberships will dry up, sponsorships will dry up.

Today's lack of desire and effort and skills is totally beyond my thinking process. I have absolutely no idea how the club dumps so many players and replaces them by 2015

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
