Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why the BS?

IF you look at the VFL player review it's pretty clear that they are rewarding the people who are playing their role as instructed. Barry only had eight touches on the weekend but he was given a tagging job on one of their better mids and shut him out of the game. I'd say he's in with a chance of getting Jordie's spot this weekend. Likewise Georgiou did a good job playing fullback. Blease on the other hand, despite a good possession count got slammed a bit for his inconsistent defensive efforts. Gawn had 20+ touches and plenty of hitouts but isn't in consideration because his man got away from him and kicked a couple of goals.

Of those included, I back Terlich to be the first choice, and then either Nicholson or Barry to take the tagger's job. I doubt we'll see all five get a game.

Of those ins I'd be wrapped to see Barry get a gig. Met him once and he seemed genuinely shocked that I knew who he was. Really nice fella who was even more chuffed that I had named my Supercoach team after him (Dom Barrygnon FC). He asked if he was in the team. I said he'd need to get a few more games first, to which he laughed and agreed. Hopefully this week is the start.

why?

I'm another who hopes he plays. He's been working away at Casey with not much recognition, so it's nice to see he is getting (possibly) the opportunity to air his wares in the AFL. It's adds to the pleasure of watching us play when we get to see how well the players are developing.

It goes one of 2 ways this week. A big win to us or the dogs but I don't see a nail biter.

I hope Barry plays... He was a mile off last year struggling away in the VFL development side. Good luck to him if they give him Macrae.

It just shows that our depth is pretty shallow.

We can thank god our core group have been intact.

I can see massive turnovers in our 2nds at the end of the season.

Any that haven't been able to adapt to the Game Plan....... See you later.

I reckon 7-8 fringe dwellers that wont be here next year.

Blease, Nicho, Tappy, Strauss, Georgiou, Byrnes, Evans. could be the Don't come monday recipients

Disappointing that Blease wasn't even named on the bench. He's certainly done more than guys like Nicho and Barry to earn his spot.

Barry vs Blease: based on the player reviews from last week, which of the following deserves a call-up?

"He got a bit of the ball in the second quarter, but he started to take it sideways and backwards, rather than forward. He only had six possessions after the half-time break, so he fell away after half-time."

"He had a negating run-with role on Sam Iles, who has been averaging around 30 possessions per week. Xxx did a very, very good job. He was disciplined, stuck to his task and tried to run both ways. Xxx also kept his opponent to little to no impact on the day."

One also got 30 touches and the other 8!

I know possessions are grossly overrated but you don't win too many games with your midfielders getting 8 touches compared to 30!

Defensive is great but at some stage you need to watch the world cup soccer and see teams that park the bus like Iran don't get many results, where other teams who take the game on can get results. Attack is always the best form of defense. And Roos has shown that this year with the possession retention based game plan that sees us hold the ball for large periods of games even if we play slowly.

I've got no problem with Barry replacing McKenzie/Cross as the tagger. I'm more concerned with Nicholson over Michie or Blease.

I have an issue with Allison's review on Bleasey.

Having seen last weeks game live (not on the TV) my observation was there were a lot of Melbourne listed players that were poorer defensively than him, yet he seems to be continually berated for it.

Allison talks about Blease knowing the defensive style of play we play at senior level, yet has a go for him going sideways and backwards in the second quarter. If no-one is presenting forward what option does he have? Isn't retaining possession and not turning it over "defensive style of play".

He had a quiet second half, but was one of the very few reasons Casey was still in the game at half time.

I reckon he's a bit hard done by.

I would agree with most, but Georgiou has always done what is asked of him, fulfilled his role, and has been rewarded by being added to the 25 this week. Definitely adds depth to our defence. He really only lost his position when hit by the friendly fire of Viney, and Garland became available the same week.

I think it is telling that Blease didn't even get in the 25 this week. I would say his goose is cooked.

I think Bleasey must have boned Roosy's wife after a meditating session.

I suspect he may have lacked the stamina to fulfil that role.

I'm a little confused with the changes this week.

Dan Nicholson and Dom Barry were poor last week, Inside football rated their performances for Casey as poor and quote Nicholson 'butchered the ball by foot'.

Viv and Blease were BOG if not in the bests.

Trust Roosy 100% just confused. I actually think Blease deserves a shot his defensive pressure cant be that bad not to warrant a game.

Viv is pretty stiff but roosy probably wants weeks on end of that sort of form, nicho and Barry have been consistently playing their role

Blease went missing a bit last week after starting really well

Agree. I saw the game. Sam Blease did look AFL standard. Barry and Nicho definitely not.

In one breath we laud roos & the coaching panel with what they have done with Dunn, Pederson etc & in general the development of the whole team & then we presume we know better than that same panel with the ins & outs. I would suggest that the coach ( whom we pay over $1 million) & the same coaching panel would have a better idea of who should play & who not. Whilst we as melb supporters are mentally scarred I can't imagine who we could possibly have as a coach who could do any better. It is fun to speculate about who will be in or not, but this forum is simply for opinions & discussions .......but to criticise & assume we know better is simply ludicrous. Can we just show some faith!

Nicho does what is asked

Blease does he work both ways and his direct opponent at AFL level will be a lot more damaging than at VFL

Georgiou has performed well at AFL level and the boys looked tired last week

How long or should I say many games in succession has Michie played after coming back from injury would need to have the absolute km's in the legs to play Cross's role

Big Gawny was okay but dropped for match ups

Dom Barry all I know is he performed a negating job as was asked of him

I will trust Roos knows what he wants and what the player needs to do to fit in with his plans

If that is the official team, no Blease again is disappointing. Would prefer him over Nicholson any day.

i believe Blease will be slotted in, as part of the next faze of the game plan...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
