Thanks for all the updates :)

I guess the next question is whether or not a player or two actually put their hands up to be played in the seniors if a spot is available? Any thoughts KC?

Not a single player performed for four quarters. North Ballarat had only five AFL listed players including rookies and had more prospects. There were a few out there who have been at the club for a while and haven't been able to break into the team this year. I can't see them remaining on the list beyond the end of the year.

And some people think Tapscott, Blease and Strauss are worth persevering with.

Not disagreeing, but you'd have to wonder what might have been if they'd had Roos and co. from the beginning.

At least everyone knows what they have to do.

What a bunch of spuds. Top 20 draft picks that can't even stand up at vfl level. See you later.

Looks like it...

Wtf? How did they crumble so badly at the end??

Numerous players with everything to play for makes an effort like that very disheartening.

This will sound harsh but performances like this is exactly what the club needs. Roos and co. will see that these guys are not worth persevering with and cut them from the list come season's end, replacing them with a free agent or two and some players that will fit the culture of the club moving forward. We need further depth and good role players and clearly most of the guys playing at VFL level (we know who they are) are just not up to doing that for us.

I echo the sentiments from a few posts back that you have to wonder 'what if' had Roos been around earlier, but the ship has long sailed. It's a positive for the club as they can cut the fat and replace it with the type of footballers our club needs.

Could really care less about Tapscott, strauss and blease by this point. More interested in the younger boys that have shown something - Harmes, JKH, Michie and Toumpas

Clearly it is all Jimmys fault.... oh wait, he was named in the bests.

Hmmmmmm......

Oh hell, its not like I'll be out of place on demonland to irrationally scorn someone. Bloody Toumpas!!!

All is not well at Casey imo...

Makes you wonder WYL. Just looking at the two sides on paper and you would have reasonably predicted a comfortable Scorps win. And then, given the start, you'd figure money in the bank. Then a side containing a swag of guys with senior experience is overun. ??????

It's worrying no doubt. Did ANY of them stand up in the last quarter? Would be interested to know who did because the scoreline indicates very few.

Hard to admit that some of these guys, perhaps many, are just not up to it.

Not willing to write them off after having seen what Roos has done with Pedersen, Jetta and others.

Just don't think the alignment is working.

Interesting considering what Bartlett said last week.

Definitely seems like he made his thoughts based on more than just a passing observation.

I did/do like the idea of this allignment but am more than happy for it to change in some fashion to allow us to filed our own ressies..

Casey's going nowhere fast currently

Must admit I would be happy if we realigned with a club closer to the city somehow but not sure how. How about Port? I would at least get to some games. I won't go to Casey, not because it is so far away but really because it is a shocker of a ground for viewing a match, parking a car and if it is not raining, then a gale is blowing. Never seen a good match of footy there myself out of the 5 or 6 I have been to.

However if our original strategy is working, that we would become the prominent AFL club in a major growth area that would help our membership, then I am happy to stay with it. Does anyone know if we are making in roads into that growth area as the team to follow?

Thanks KC - great to have you back.

So it doesn't seem that anyone is bashing down Roos' door this week. Correct?

How about Sabdringham where we started?

Casey's going nowhere fast currently

I was at the game, spoke briefly to Brad Miller and Rohan before the start and asked if they had fixed the last Qtr fade outs , answer: "hope so"

Listened to 3 qtr time address: all I heard were Roos philosophies " don't think you need to win the game on your own", "take the game on, but if no options go down the line" etc, etc

The previous 3 games were mentioned and effort and intensity challenged. Lots of RA RA RA but I left the huddle feeling that they were jittery.

Result: saw a number of players try to do to much, particularly Casey listed players, saw a lot of MFC listed players go missing and saw the breakdown of the defensive effort and structure that was so prevalent, effective and Roos like in the 1st half, go missing.

Analysis:

Considering the number of MFC listed players in the side and the number of MFC employed coaches I think there is nothing wrong with the Casey alignment and all I saw was a desire to replicate the plan and execution of the MFC. What I saw was the inability of Players to follow instruction, execute plans and deliver skills in the final quarter and ultimately they were overrun.

I appreciate everyone's right to an opinion and obviously the above is my own.

I don't often post but read threads on a regular basis and have to admit to a little dismay at some of the posts on this site that appear simply as emotional feeling based responses without doing some direct observation and research.

I didn't see Bartlett in Ballarat and would think he would rely on the advice of his Senior Coach in relation to this matter.

If Roos thinks the alignment is holding us back then fair enough, but I didn't see any of that today

Like it myself but I think there is a knock on the ground for its lack of size and shape as compared to the MFC. I think that is the Saints complaint. In the past I am not sure it helped us when we won 3 flags in a row down there.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
