Congrats to Tommy Mac who'll play his 50th game on the big stage this weekend. Although much is said about his disposal, he's easily become one the top defenders going around which is incredible considering he's only 21 and about to play his 50th game. Great one on one player and a key prospect for the future for the Dees. Hopefully we retain him.

very well spoken young man, doesn't shy away from hard work, obvious leadership potential, has all the tools just needs to work on his kicking.

Drafted: Round 3, Pick #53 2010 National Draft

Steal,

Congrats Tommy, you have been a rock down the back line and have done a phenomenal job on the big name key forwards , all without the help of Frawley

Man, that's come about very fast. Congrats Tom!

To me it feels like he's been around forever already.

I still remember very early in his career he got towelled up by Nick Riewoldt for the first 15 minutes of a game. I wrote him off then and there, but (naturally) he proceeded to destroy Roo for the rest of the night.

He's a handy player, but does a bit too much aimless running with ball-in-hand for my taste.

good post. Geez only 21? He has huge upside. Reminds me of Steven icke. A little ungainly but super reliable and very driven

Well done Tommy.

Not a perfect player, but one of my favourites.

50 games and 200 more to come.

Sums up my own thoughts too, J.

Yes indeedy. TMac 50? its seems to have gone very quickly. I can't wait to see his next 2 seasons now he's been such a regular member of the team.

His best is all in front of him. lets hope there's ar least another 200 + to come in the Red&Blue.

King of the one-percenters and can run all day. Barry Prendagast success story. Would like to see take a few more contested marks and dispose of the ball properly under pressure.

I had a conversation with Jack Trengove before the Darwin game a couple of years ago. Even then Tom Mac was very highly regarded among the playing group. Trengove was amazed at Tom's running ability both endurance and speed. This guy could become one of our great players.

If he keeps shutting down the games best forward he would be in serious contention for All Australian? He seems excited to be at the club so I have no doubt he will sign soon. 10 plus year player for us.

The 21-year-old, who was drafted at No.53 in the NAB AFL 2010 Draft, said being drafted was a moment he’ll never forget, but he’s eager to play a key part of Melbourne’s finals prospects in the future.

“Getting drafted is still probably the highlight. The feeling when your name gets called out is probably one of the best feelings I’ve had in a long time. It’s just an excitement and a rush that I haven’t felt since,” he told Dee TV.

“I’m looking forward to playing finals and hopefully that trumps it pretty quickly.

Well it seems he is happy at melbourne so I hope he signs soon.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
