Man.... He captured my imagination more than any player we ever had. I would go to games when we were being belted just to see Jurrah.

Sadly, he will be a forgotten player in the long run because of his short career. However, if by some miracle the chance ever came that he could return, I really hope we rookie list him.

I am not sure many would agree with me though, besides the fact it could be great from an on-field perspective, I know people would get bogged down by the criminal factor.

It's about rehabilitation, not career punishment. Footy should be no different to every job out there.

Maybe I am numb because I am so "American sports minded", but to me, if you can play, then you play.

I don't think Liam can take any short cuts and I hope he realizes the extent of his behavior and how damaging to others it can be.

Jurrah could make it back to AFL, no doubt.. But IMO he'll never have the collective attitude that Roos need - in order to draft him.

Roos operates on collectively and selflessness. If Jurrah had more of those 2 things, he wouldn't be in his current position.

For Niall to suggest that MFC was in any way responsible for the downfall of LJ is disgraceful, after all we have done for Liam during and post his time here, nothing could be further from the truth.

The club should ask for a retraction.

The MFC civil war took down Dean Bailey. Liam may have been better off with Bails as his coach but it's a fairly long bow to draw to say that he was a victim of it.

Not sure what u mean. I never thought me as a selfish player at all, very team orientated in fact. One of my all time favourites. I liked Sean Charles as well. I'd be rapt if he ever played 4 us again. I'd go just 2 see him play .He'd thrive under Roos.

So it is not surprising our connection with his downfall and his communities troubles is being suggested and exists in the mind of many. IMO, the club then exploited Liam and his community for the publicity value to the extreme.

There are no simplistic explanations or solutions to issues such as this. Let's just acknowledge with sadness the waste of a great talent. Pleased to hear that he still values the connections with his Dee mates. Looks like it is the hope of playing footy again at some level keeps him going.

I think the circus freak stuff language is a bit extreme but I hear what you are saying. The club in those days was more image over substance if anything. I think that bloody book was the silliest thing of all.

I think that is a very sad and inaccurate description of what happened. Yes we got publicity but the effort put in to help less disadvantaged members of the community was fantastic and at great personal and financial cost. Our President was dying for God sake and he left his family and went to the outback to help.Others left their comfort and went to try and help.

This is not your finest post IMO.

Finally, Liam Jurrah is where he is because of Liam Jurrah and no one else. He was begged to come home the weekend all the trouble started. We helped him before that, during that and after that. He continued to look for trouble.

Lets not rewrite history. I find Niall's comments despicable. People wanting to help others may now think twice and to think he publishes it on this weekend of all times.

A lot of talk about Jurrah from the indigenous boys at our club was that you really can't understand what he is going through with these family issues.

My gripe is, I don't care how bad things are, you never hit women. There's no excuse, and its wrong to do, not matter what your nationality is.
