Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ANGUS BRAYSHAW

Also I'm not sure if anyone knows with any certainty, but we rated him above McCartin and Petracca didn't we?

Not sure about that but the Saints clearly didn't.

We were always going to get Angus, it was only a question of whether the Saints took McCartin, a "need" , or Petracca, who most saw as "best".

Am I alone in thinking Brayshaw looks like Ramsey Bolton from Game of Thrones?

Yes he does, and Ive always thought he is a dead ringer for a young Brian Dixon, Melbournes premiership hero.

Just shows how he makes every single touch count. I felt exactly the same last night.

If Petracca is supposed to be better than Brayshaw then we have absolutely struck gold with these two.

Gus does make every single touch count, but his presence on the field is much, much more than that. It's his pressure acts like chasing and tackling, his desperation, gut running and fearlessness and his never-say die attitude and will to get to the next contest, that make him such a standout. His leadership is also starting to show through. I clearly remember early in the season, Jonesy pointing out where he should stand at stoppages. Now it's Gus directing traffic as often as not. He is an absolute gem, and is learning so quickly.

How about in his third game vs Adelaide.... bit of a scuffle going on with N.Jones right in the middle of it.

Gus pushes his way to the middle of the pack, pulls Jones out and gets in his ear to settle down!

Loved it.

Something that was said about him on the commentary (and please God, let it not be Der-wayne!) against Geelong is that "he seems to know where the ball is going to go".

He just seems to get into the right place at the right time to get an intercept mark, or to pick someone's pocket and intercept a handpass, or to turn in the right direction to find space and get a breakaway clearance.

It's that level of footy IQ that he brings, as well as his pressure acts & skilled disposal & all the rest. Something like a sixth sense that only the very best seem to have.

I live in country NSW and work weird shifts, so I usually only see the games after the fact, so I don't get the real time experience and I don't get to see the big picture.

So, I wonder if my limited observation on this gem is right: it seems that whenever we are on a roll it's this kid that is in the middle of things. Vince, Jones, Cross etc as well of course, but whenever we are on top his name pops up again and again.

Thoughts on if I am right on this gut feel?

I like that earlier comparison, he's like N Jones on the inside and Watts on the outside. True grunt and class.

I think he is the best 10 gamer I have seen at MFC. Mind you Allen Jakovich was pretty special. *

From wikipedia.

* Allen Jakovich has the distinction of being the fastest player to score his first fifty goals, taking only nine games to do so.[2] He finished with 71 goals for his debut season; becoming one of a handful of players inVFL/AFL history to kick 50 goals in both the senior competition and now defunct 'reserves' league within the same season.

NB: I think he was about 23 yo on debut.

Having a kid come in a play so well in his first year seems so so foreign I'm not sure what to think at times!

I have to keep reminding myself to stop waiting for it all to go tits up. He actually seems to be improving each week, too.

Hogan had me excited at the start of the year but I'm just beside myself with Brayshaw.
Kids got it all.

We just gotta keep these kids we can build around in the club and fit.
I'm finally really liking what I'm seeing.

I know who he reminds me of--- a young Keith Greig.

On the run especially. Same kicking style too. Gives it everything

Not sure about a Charlie, he'll have Hogan, Petracca, Viney and Salem at least taking votes from him...

Plays far more aggressively than Harvey IMO.

Both in his attack on the ball and player but his decision making aswell.

he's a more penetrating kick too

still, just the way he runs and his poise and balance reminds me of harvey

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
