Will Tapscott really play as a follower?

Perhaps that is what he needs, to get him involved in the middle. At VFL level he should be able to handle himself well we would hope, for his sake. He certainly looked up and about at training today.

Disappointing that Dom Barry is dropped back in the development league.

? The above shows him listed in the Scorpions interchange, not Development league (or am I missing something?).

Listed in both subject to final bench for seniors.

dd he was the steak knives in the Hogan deal.

From what I have seen at training and Casey don't get your hopes up VFL at best IMO.

Sorry OD, Brett Allison doesn't agree with you

Maia Westrupp: Maia played as a defender. He had 12 possessions and it was his most promising game this season. He had a particularly strong second quarter, where he won six possessions and used the ball very well. We’re looking forward to seeing more of that in the weeks to come from Westy.

He is a speculative, sitting outside of the main list, from what I could glean from the coaches, there is something to work with, this is regarded as his first year

Not sure what is going on with Barry, had a couple of soft tissue so may be impacting, seems to have stalled at the moment

Barry was the travelling emergency for the GWS game, so I don't think he is too far off it.

From reports his GPS data is spot on, but he just doesn't use it effectively, and obviously this is an issue. But is a player with great fitness and this could well be beneficial if he gets his running patterns correct.

Dom Barry is not on the radar IMO. His decision making and disposal is not anywhere near AFL. Makes 1 good choice for 2 bad disposals...

He doesn't find the ball! He was drafted for top endurance and nice speed to play on the wing and he can't find the footy. Even if he did turn it over every time it would be a start if he could at least find 20 touches in the VFL.

He's still very young and at least in his first year trained like a young kid so if they want to give him one more year then so be it but he doesn't look like an AFL footballer in the most important aspect which is finding the ball.

If anyone's wondering why there were no changes to Melbourne's selected team this week, then you might want to reflect on this report from one of the local papers down Casey way

Out of their depth?

“YOU wonder why you’re not getting a game in the AFL – just look at that tape.”

Casey Scorpions coach Rohan Welsh pulled no punches when he addressed his charges after an insipid 58-point loss to Sandringham on Sunday.

Welsh labelled the Scorpions possession efficiency as the worst he had ever seen and the lack of effort to support team mates left him livid.

While Sandringham fought together as a 23-man team, Welsh saw his own unit as 23 individuals waiting for the easy ball.

I am heading down today. I am not sure f I will see the whole game, as family duties may intervene later this afternoon. Will try and give a good report when I am home tonight. One good thing - there is absolutely no wind down this way, so at least the wind at Casey Fields might be down to 50kmh today. I just wish they would plant some trees or something on the north and east side of the ground.

sadly some of the rot have a year or two left to run on their contracts and they are untradeable.

Yep, did it again. Went to Casey Fields only to find out the game is tomorrow. Did it last year once also. Luckily only 12 mins from my home. Will try again tomorrow.

However, got to see the last quarter of the reserves and the first half of the Cranbourne vs Berwick game. Not a bad game of footy but Cranbourne were going the biff and not enjoying the fact that the umpires saw it each time. Love suburban footy. Even the toothless, inarticulate masses of Cranbourne uglies could not put me off my enjoyment of the game.

After the last decade of MFC Maldonboy I enjoy going to a game where

- you go expecting a break even chance of winning

- despite the quality drop you are close to the game and enjoy the football.

There is football joy away from the MFC.

The only thing worse than a footballer who doesn't run is one who does but constantly finds himself in the wrong spots. I'm a bit worried that Barry is putting in all the effort running but not getting the rewards. Hoping Barry is back out there today and can do something.

12 possessions in the D league coming up against guys who wouldn't get a senior game at most decent local clubs. Remember even if it's only been for a year he's a full time professional footballer who trains all day every day for footy. He's not a ruckman or a key position player merely a medium sized defender. I'm glad we had a go at the NZ thing but this kids not going to make it.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
