Club has to be careful not to just chase a GWS player because he is a GWS player. .................................................................................

Surely, our current team of recruiters are too smart for that.

Popular? Is that why they hardly ever kick it to him? Popular doesn't add 1 bean to his value at the moment

Do you really think that players decide who they kick to based on how well like that player is?

Roos seems to have answered our queries about how he is playing from his perspective.

That would be valuable, no?

Just watching the interview with jonothan patton after reports the bulldogs are going to offer him a 5.5 million dollar 5 year deal, he looked as gone as gone can be to me,

hopefully the Giants are worried about hanging onto him and turn their attention away from Cameron just in time for us to swoop in

they have all these players who look like potential superstars and I reckon they know some are going to leave.

they still need to trade for him

Pick 6 wont get t done, not even close

I reckon we are in the box seat to get Patton if any team is

No disrespect, but do you really still want Cameron? Getting him will cause more harm then good

how?

The last 3 will be true leaders in about 4-5 yrs (though not so sure about Toump and JKH). Cross has probably 1 year left. It would be great to pick up some 24-25 yr old guys with strong current leadership, if that is possible, to fill the gap.

I don't disagree but the comment was we have no leaders. I listed 3 current ones and 3 future ones. Recent trends would suggest that leadership is high on the list of qualities we are looking for in players.

If the Dogs want to pay him $1.1m a year, then they can have him. He's not worth that much.

He has had leg/knee problems, and the times he's been on the park, he hasn't done anything to command such a pay-packet. I'd give Hogan (0 games) $5.5m for 5 years before Patton.

$500k / year max would be what i'd offer Patton.

yeah thats very true

if Pattons worth 1 mil then Hogan is worth 3

GWS will have a lot of players being offered Big $$'s by other clus so they are going to be hard pressed to keep them all. They are fortunate that they have a surplus of good quality early draft picks that they have banked and can continue to trade for either tried and trusted players or more high draft picks. This way the keep refreshing the list with younger high potential kids and move on those surplus to needs. The GWS may know who they want to keep, the issue for them is can they afford to keep them and do they need to perhaps trade some of them to get the top draft picks they want more.

For those still interested in O'Keefe he conceded on ABC radio today that he has played his last game in the red and white.... at the SCG. Strongly hinting at the fact that he wants to play on next year, it just won't be for the Swans.

I'm still not sold on the idea of getting him, but if it was for next to nothing then I wouldn't be against it.

Same as it ever was, it is the midfield, stupid. Back line looks good, forward line looks OK if Hogan can play. But we've only got 4 AFL class mids N.Jones, Vince, Tyson and Viney (apologies to Daniel Cross) when we need at least 10. Some more may come out of Trengove, Toumpas, Salem, Barry and JKH. Last year Tyson, Salem and Vince - about half our midfield - for 2, 20 and Sylvia (23) was an excellent return. This year it would be great to repeat that and if Frawley goes we'll have an even stronger hand - 3, 4 and 23ish. I didn't anticipate last year's deal, I expect we'll be working hard on something similar.

Absolutely agree with that and it's why I like the look of Mitchell. The only player out of the midfield category we need is an additional key position player to replace Mitch Clark but the emphasis will once again be strongly on the midfield.

Guys I said 'getting Cameron' not 'having Cameron.' Was talking about how the sacrifices we have to make will postpone our ability to actually fix our REAL deficiency, our midfield. Dw Machsy, you probably wouldn't understand anyways :P sorry for causing the confusion guys.

Vlad Putin

Bob Carr

Putin would want the Captaincy and a fair say in team selection.

I would say our forward line is right up their as our real deficiency and this will be easier to fix now rather than later. What I mean by this is the picks or trading options for KPF won't be open to us as we start to move up the ladder. We must fix this now, mids are easier to come by and I think we are on target here. We have one quality KPF and he is yet to play a game.

Cameron in a heartbeat. Let's not confuse him with a stay at home forward.

The bloke I think Roos could turn around is Toby Greene. I suspect I have little support there.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
