5 - Viney

4 - Dawes

3 - Frawley

Much the same top six or so as last week - the issue is the others who played quite well last week played poorly today (McDonald, Georgiou, Bail, Watts, Tyson, Dunn, Spencer).

6 - Nathan Jones: The Ablett-matchup didn't quite work, but his form was again outstanding and IMO, he will make AA at this rate.

5 - Jack Viney: not necessarily the most talented kid I've seen wear red and blue, but right up there with the most impressive.

4 - Chris Dawes: extremely wasteful, but cannot question his effort and worth to this side. Worth every cent.

3 - Daniel Cross: consistent player.

2 - James Frawley: like Dawes, he was wasteful. But certainly makes us look better in the F50.

1 - Jeremy Howe: wasteful, but some decent signs.

Apologies: nil

6. N Jones - all heart, no fear. Our champ.

5. Dawes - wasteful, but the good far outweighs the bad

4. Viney - busted a gut for us today. Will only get better as the season progresses.

3. Frawley - great work-rate, but needs to hold more grabs

2. Cross - worked very hard against the odds

1. Grimes - building into form. Hard and reliable.

Nope. Not today. Today was the Dunn of old - his kicking out of the back line was woeful, too many times he went with the 'I can kick 50 metres, let me show you' kicks, which go a long distance but go straight up too.

Having a good year, but today was not a good game from Dunn. Prefer him forward, I'd like to see Roos work on a way to get him forward and Pedersen back.

6. N Jones : Tired all day

5. Viney: Hard all day

4. Dawes: Our best forward but needed 4.2 not 2.4

3. Frawley: Looks dangerous every time he came in the game but only made fleeting appearances
2. Cross: Tried all day again but like the other two mis in the votes lacks polish

1. Kennedy-Harris: Came into the game and did enough in the second half to pinch this vote based on no one else doing any more than him

Hard to argue with any of the votes, but Dawes and Frawley's misses cost us the game.

Maybe. I'd say the umpires giving them multiple free kicks inside their attacking 50 cost us the game personally. Disgraceful display today.

6. N. Jones (this has become a cut and paste each week now. I wish someone else would stand up)

the nomination of 6 players is definitely one too many today when you see players such as Howe, Bail, Jay K-H & Pederson get the 1 point nomination.

Howe & J K-H weren't sighted in the 1st half and played respectable 2nd halves, Bail is another one of our midfielders who just doesn't get it enough and when he does is so poor by foot. I thought Pedo was ok and has moved from SPUD to Serviceable over the last couple of weeks, but to mention any of these players in the context of "getting votes" is laughable.

6 - N.Jones ( has added class and inspiration to his repertoire )

5 - Dawes ( the epitome of determination )

4 - Cross ( we couldn't ask for a more professional senior player )

3 - Jetta ( was often found in precarious situations , but was rarely beaten )

2 - Viney ( lacks polish but is learning quickly .. will be a star )

1 - Grimes ( consistent and calming )

It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
