Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAME DAY - ROUND THREE

I wonder if after getting run down from behind a few times (including the broken collar bone) he's so worried about it he's now panicking and dishing off fumbling shoddy handballs at world record pace. He's making Matt Jones look clean by hand.

Yeh look maybe, fair comment - harsh comment from me i know but there shouldn't be an excuse for putting team mates under more pressure because you can't or wont take contact

I am a great Watts fan. Thing is, the conditions make no real difference, if you are committed. I once saw Robbie Flower best on the ground by daylight, against Essendon at Windy Hill in a day they should have called it off, the ground was lashed with rain and wind like you couldn't believe. Lightest built on the field, obviously, and all about skill - but he killed them. There really aren't any excuses.

Thing is he's never afraid to take contact under a high ball or winning the ball. He just gets the ball and panics now. Crazy.

Melbourne 44% kicking efficiency

Great.

Not sure if serious

U watching the stats or the game? Just another game of where stats are misleading - 44% under intense pressure and rain ain't that bad but who really cares its all about contested possessoins and meters gained

I agree with that but its not AFL standard to panic and he's possession is poor

Hes a smaller version of Frawley - both can't kick or see the play but at least Frawley has more use

Getting wacked in the clearances, stoppages and tackle count.

If the boys can turn that around somehow we win this game. Mind you that's easier said than done lol

Half time stats:

Disposals: 178-183

Kick to handball ratio: GWS 107-71, Melbourne 93-90

Clearances: 31-16

Inside 50s: 24-18

Contested possessions: 70-76

Tackles: 57-36

So, we're again having more of the ball, but despite the conditions we're handballing plenty. Not sure how much of that is a lack of options up the ground, but it doesn't sound great to me.

Got smashed in the clearances in that quarter after being relatively level at quarter time, but only conceded the one goal, which is a sign of their sloppiness as well as our defence playing well enough (Pedersen and McDonald are defending very nicely it seems).

Reasons to watch the second half?

We might actually win. It's only 8 points and for various parts of the game we've been the better side.

I've been a fan of Spencer's this year. He was good in round 1, somewhat acceptable against 3 West Coast rucks in round 2 but he's been smashed by Mumford right now. Completely inept at boundary throw ins (his height and high centre of gravity probably hurts him).

Come on Jake show some improvement in the second half.

Enormous disappointment IMO. This is his sixth year on an AFL list and he still looks beanpole-esque.

Mumford is having a big impact. 37 hit outs to 16 their way, plus he's laid 7 tackles to Spencer/Fitzpatrick's 3 combined.

I maintain what I was saying in the first quarter, we are playing ok. They are also going hard enough to suggest they give a s$, but I would say with the change in conditions we swap Chip back to defence and Howe back to forward, pull the trigger on JKH mid way through the 3rd quarter subbing either Howe or Fitzy out, whoever stays must bring the ball to ground. Chip I the forward line hasn't been horrible but he still plays like a defender with his positioning, and he should've squared the ball up rather than go himself but it's good to see someone backing themselves.

We are in this.

Please, Sylvia is on of your favourite players yet you accuse others of having no idea

Sorry, didn't realise you were also the 'who you can have on your favourite player list' squad as well. Former players don't count eh? Childish response.

Anyone give us a sniff?

Provided we don't give away a couple of cheapies at the start of the third, we're right in it

Anyone give us a sniff?

Yep.... do the players though?

It's all between the ears in this second half. Game's there to be won. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst

Loving Tyson and Viney....gees, they're hard at the stoppage.

I agree, but Jack just has to learn to control that aggression at the stoppages. He gives too many free kicks away at this stage. He's a beautie though.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
