Changes next week - what to do?

We need Spencer to stay in so Gawn can play forward.

Pederson can be replaced only if Roos is prepared to take the risk of playing Max King. I can't see either of Dawes or Hogan being near selection until round 3 at least.

OUT : - McDonald (inj), Fitzpatrick (inj), Byrnes, Pederson

IN : - King, Blease, Evans/Viney, Gawn

Is Clisby anywhere near ready to return?

How far away is Garland?

I'd leave the team pretty much the same unless we have to make some changes:

- Gawn for Fitzy if he needs a week from concussion, or if Pedo has to swing back in place of Tom Mc

If we have to bring a second player in they must be able to kick goals, so Blease for mine.

Obviously Hogan should be picked if available in place of Fitzy or Pedo.

Wasn't it mentioned that Hogan may be ok for next week?

I bloody hope so haha!

Changes

Out: Fitz/Pedo (Depending on Fitzy's concussion, Pedo out if Fitzy is able to play), Byrnes, Bail

In: Gawn, Blease, Viney (if avaliable)

Give JKH another shot and play him for the full game.

bring in howe Sorry he was playing wasnt he? No bring in viney and if Tom doesnt come up another backman. Id drop Bail for Blease or even evans.

Gawn in for Fitzy.

we need reliability & some competitive strength. 4 changes?

Gawn, + 3 of > Evans, Viney, Tapscott, McKenzie, Clisby, Blease, Jetta, Barry,

King is a rookie so someone has to go down badly before he gets a chance. Also, I watched an interview with Jade Rawlings on DeeTV the other day where he mentioned Neville Jetta was pushing for selection so it looks like he might be the next in line for an upgrade.

I don't think garland has trained much in the past 6 weeks. I'd be surprised to see him this week

we need transition players who'll deliver.

imo, our weaknesses were small forwards & a lack of a tall focal points. Bail wasn't the answer up front. We need Viney/Evans to play forward. maybe push Bail up the field somewhere.

our lack of forwardline balance & potency, sapped the rest of the team of their belief.

Next week we need a team full of hard edged competitors.

Byrnes, Pedersen and Spencer are just not liked by the masses.

Byrnes was our only dangerous forward last night (which says a lot), Spencer worked incredibly hard and we have no other options and Pedersen was playing a role is struggles to fulfil but should have kicked 3 if he wasn't a lazy kick.

If we had fit players in form ready to come in?

Hypotheticals are irrelevant to reality.

We just don't have many to come in.

Assuming Viney played and got through a full game.

In: Gawn, Blease, Viney,

Out: Pederson, Michie, JKH

Pederson to play back if T-Mac out.

Why would you drop Michie (c.f. Byrnes for example)? He wasn't our worst player by a long shot!

You have to replace the roles that are there. I don't rate Byrnes but he kicked two and got his hands on it 14 times and we need an opportunist forward. Michie had limited ball in a midfield role until late in the game. Turned it over more often than not and from what I could see was the least accountable of our midfield group. He was clearly in our bottom 5 last night in my view.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
