Sorry if it's been mentioned somewhere already but Sam (if that's his name?) "Scoop" McClure brought that up on Talking Footy last night. Apparently he hates it in Melbourne and has his mind fixed on a move back to WA, be it this year or next. His mail was from the same radio host in WA who apparently broke the news that Woosha was the next coach of the Bombers. I've never heard of this McClure fellow but he looks like a sleazy, untrustworthy little slimeball (read: journalist) so I didn't think too much of it. My guess is the writer of that article also caught McClure's segment on Talking Footy and this is his Chinese Whisper. But I'm an MFC supporter and a pessimist by nature so I've always thought Hoges would leave eventually.

Remember that 12 goal final quarter the last time we beat the Giants? I watched that last night to razz myself up a little bit for today's match and I actually found myself pretty underwhelmed by it, regardless of the thrashing. Maybe because it happened in arguably the worst season in our history. Maybe because seeing Mark Neeld in a Melbourne polo still makes my eye twitch. Maybe because Trengove and Grimes were our captains (WTF, seriously). Maybe because I saw hacks like Bail, Byrnes, M. Jones, Terlich and so many others running around in our jumper and was reminded that these guys were among our core group throughout that period. What did razz me was to see how things have changed since then. Only eight players from the team that day will line up for us today (N. Jones, Garland, Howe, Jamar, Jetta, Viney, Tommy Mac and Watts) and they are all so improved. Our boy Frost was wearing that hideous orange and charcoal guernsey. Dom Tyson was either in the twos or injured, but either way most probably already contemplating his move back to Victoria I think we'll get the four points today but I definitely don't expect any 12 goal quarters. Unfortunately I won't be watching so I'll have to wait for the replay to find out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFOH57tn6pE

I thought the exact same thing.

Title kinda sums it up. No real surprise here.

RIP Robbie Flower - Sad Passing of a True Champion
Vince Vega replied to KLV's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was born in 87 and did not officially become a demon supporter til a few years later. While I'm too young to have ever seen him play, my Dad and older brother (and every Demonlander on this thread) speak volumes of his skill and loyalty and so as a MFC romantic I have always loved what he means to the club. I watched this video a while ago and could not help but admire the man's humility. I just watched it again and glowed for it's entirety. If you can spare a half hour I recommend you do the same. RIP Robbie. -
I actually read this one on facebook and genuinely laughed out loud. Just some rumourmonger trying to get more likes is my bet. I am almost 100% sure it is complete BS.
-
I've never seen him play, so my only opinion of him is that he has some of the worst tattoos I've ever seen.
-
Has been announced on the website that Bleasey is out. One of my close mates played TAC cup with him and apparently he is a ripping young bloke. Like with most of our players, I blame the club for him not reaching his potential and wish him all the best.
-
I hope he got the long standing ovation he deserves. What a man.

Has extended his contract as expected. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-chief-executive-peter-jackson-signs-on-for-another-12-months-at-the-helm/story-fndv8pdq-1227048102920

Also, I would be interested to see a revote for this thread. Do those 109 votes really still believe Frawley is staying?
-
Has the B&F function started yet? Anyone know if Chip showed up?
-
Rivers is the only Melbourne player to have won. Interestingly, Gysberts and Blease are also among the few to have been nominated twice (apologies in advance if this info causes a "woeful drafting, screw Barry Prendergast" thread derailment). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFL_Rising_Star
-
Is that a massive typo? Nathan Jones is one of only a handful of players to have been nominated twice.
-
No.
-
That makes more sense. Cheers!

I've heard this as well but never heard any other details. Does anyone know the actual rule or where I can find it?

If anyone thinks re-signing Riley was....

Harsh. Too harsh. Wasn't he only on a one year contract? Give him a fair go. He's no Gillies. -
Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere, but I found it interesting that this article on the AFL website already has Nicholson, Evans, Strauss and Blease as delisted: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-27/the-washup-melbourne

Well played, sir.
