Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For round 2, Mitch Clark's "TBC" has transmogrified into an "indefinite", Jesse Hogan remains a "TBA" which means he definitely won't be right for round 1, Chris Dawes is treading water and a few blokes listed as "test" are, in all likelihood, being considered for the LTI. Expect a few changes on Thursday night.

Mitch Clark (personal leave) indefinite

Chris Dawes (calf) 2-3 weeks

Jack Fitzpatrick (concussion) test

Colin Garland (ankle) test

Jesse Hogan (back) TBA

Mark Jamar (foot) 1 week

Tom McDonald (corked thigh) test

Jordie McKenzie (foot) test

Aidan Riley (leg) 1 week

F--king DAWES!

I must admit, I feel the same as you do C & B. What started as a "tightness" in the calf from a intraclub has turned into a constant 2-3 weeks. I mean what really happened?? Did he rip the muscle off the bone or something? Is it a compound fracture that the med staff didn't notice at first??? I'm thinking 223 is the new 426. I think some of these guys who are on good money should toughen up a bit. Now before everybody jumps down my throat, I ask you this - would the great Jimmy Stynes have been out there playing? We all know the answer.

I swear it has gotten way worse than it used to be - how many dollars are being thrown around in trying to manage these 'elite sportsmen' who seem to be made out of crepe paper, are all these so-called experts in sports science making any difference whatsoever, I would hate to see the state of our list without them, half of demonland would be taking the field. It is the same every single year and I have had enough, honest to God, along with the pathetic rabble that umpiring has become it is turning me away from the sport.

I thought he played in the Casey praccy match last weekend? Or is this a new injury..?

He is no big loss Grapeviney.

Worry about McDonald and Fitzpatrick coming up for this weekend.

Dawes and Hogan are no surprise. I'm pumped to see Garlo almost ready to resume though as he gives our backline some extra experience, or we have the option to use him as a forward target while Dawes and Hogan return. If our backline of Chip, McDonald and Georgiou stays fit then we have a little more flexibility if we need it.

Seems like the medical staff are so cautious these days that, if the guy has a runny nose, he's put on ice as a precautionary measure, and told to rest for "two to three". Have to wonder if they've taken it just a tad too far...

Also bleedin' frustrating the the VFL don't have a game this week. Misso said both Jamar and Garlo would have played with Casey this week, if there was a game. Suppose it would have been the same for Viney.

Just wish the VFL was in complete sync with the AFL season. makes it so hard for guys coming back from injury if there's no VFL game for them to come back in.

I don't think it has anything to do with our resources or FD personnel C and B

I believe there are some people that for whatever reason cannot take the punishment that modern AFL demands.

Some rarely have soft tissue injuries and others just seem to move from one bout to the next with long periods out in between.

We seem to have the luck of recruiting more of them than most others.

It also does not help that our list is not as good as most other clubs

i.e our good player stocks are lower to start with and a few injuries to the better players means there are no one to take up the slack.

My father used to say donkeys never get injured the race winners seem to all the time.

Look at the MFC, Pedersen never seems to get a soft tissue injury but Dawes has them constantly.

Luck of the draw i believe.

Just maddening that we always seem to be on the wrong end every year.

They need some Nathan Jones blood in them, he goes in harder than anyone and seems invincible. *touch wood*

The irritating thing in all of this is that amid all the talk of ''we don't want to rush them" and "we're being overly conservative" came the admission that Dawes was rushed back too quickly.

I don't expect the docs / fitness guys to get it right 100 per cent of the time, and injuries / recovery can be unpredictable in a sport as intense as AFL, but they obviously got the Dawes call wrong, and may well have done the same with Hogan given that his back was sore prior to the Geelong game, yet still played, and is no closer to resuming despite a spell on the sidelines.

That's code for "they won't play".

It agrivates the bejesus out if me.

I'm with you... Maybe not on that particular quote but the lack of transparency between the club and it's supporter base is pretty disgusting.

I mean, what the hell is the point of the 'injury update' hosted by Burgen when Misson gives us absolutely nothing. Misson's response, especially when it comes to Dawes' injury is absolutely pathetic. They should either tell us what is really going on, or not give injury updates at all.

Dawes clearly has some ongoing injuries with his 'leg', why do we continue to read 2-3 weeks.. Why is everything kept so quiet.

Shits me to tears and expect more as a paid up MFC member.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
