Axed, retired AFL players to line up interstate, in bush and in suburbs in 2014

Former Dees players mentioned in the above are -

Matthew Bate (Norwood, EFL via Essendon VFL);

Tom Couch (Collingwood VFL);

Aaron Davey (Richmond VFL);

Tom Gillies (St Mary's GFL);

Jordan Gysberts (Norwood, EFL via North Melbourne);

James Magner (Port Melbourne VFL) and

James Sellar (South Fremantle, WAFL).

Another ex-Dee, Liam Jurrah played a few games with the former teammate Austin Wonaemirri at the Tiwi Bombers before Christmas before the latest round of his well documented brushes with the law.

Then there's Colin Sylvia (though not exactly a reject) struggling with training at Freo, Luke Tynan at Frankston VFL and, a bit closer to heart and home Troy Davis at the Casey Scorpions VFL side.

Rory Taggert is playing for Sturt in the SANFL aswell.. Not sure about Nathan Stark if he is back at Glenelg.

Its amazing where Jordan Gysberts football journey has now resulted in playing suburban league.. Came to Melbourne at pick 9, 26 disposals debut against the cats and, Told to work harder, didn't listen and now look where he is. Some blokes are just not cut for AFL.

Brad Green was spot on when he made a comment after he retired that too many players on our list relied only on talent to get them through.. Takes more then just talent.

Good, I reckon he can play and if he keeps at it he could make it as a mature age recruit in a couple of years.

I wonder where skinny Cale ended up. There was a story in the Northcote Leader in December that the Northern Blues (FKA the Prestin Bullants) were hoping to bag him (ie recruit him as opposed to joining many Demonlanders in deriding him),

Whispering Jack, do you have any further info on what's Colin is (or isn't) up to over at Freo?

I wouldn't consider Flash a reject.

Good call he retired.

Malthouse has Brock in the engine room ready for a tilt at the flag.

I was laughing to myself even as I wrote the above.

It's just a very absurd proposition.

I should get out more .

Stepped outside in the recent WA cyclone and not sighted since ;-)

Whilst on the topic of MFC rejects, what's Barry Prendergast up to these days?

Pretty sure he is the Opposition Analyst at Carlton. Destroying a list must have been a heavily weighted prerequisite for the job, no other candidate would have come close.

His next job he could by the dynamite that destroys the foundations of a large building being demolished.

I thought he left Carlton, but could be wrong.

I understand that Lucas Cook has returned to his home town to play for Hopetoun.

An aptly-named place for him to end up!

I think he was also talking about himself... he may be learning from MM.

this stuff has gone on at Melbourne for at least 20 yrs, if not more.

no wonder we didn't win a flag with that talented list in the mid 90's.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

    Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

    A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

    BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

    Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
