Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Name 3 players you are keen to see in 2014 and why

Viv Michie is an intriguing proposition for mine. His highlights look terrific so let's see if he can come back from injury and effectively start his career.

Fitzpatrick could be a dominant mobile forward for us and provide a second, third option that teams struggle to counter.

Jack Viney - would love for,him to take another step such as Liberatore has at the Bulldogs.

Tyson - Im expecting he will be rusty and am really looking forward to assessing him after 8 or so games. An unknown Quantity.

Hogan - He seems to be getting even better after finishing off 2013 really well. Im hoping he can mark high on the lead as I think he will be needing to do this more against the highly experienced back men he is about to face. I know I shouldnt be comparing him to Plugger but ..... Exciting!

Fitz - he has been in the pack for a couple of years and now is unshackled into the final straight. I hope he is still improving. A dark horse, he always shows bits of excellence. My roughie.

There are many who have not had the chance or have been hampered by injury who I hope to have good years.

I dont expect much improvement from Trengove, Blease or Strauss. I think they are struggling unfortunately.

I cant restrict it to 3 players

I reckon

1 improved coaching

2 improved attitude

3 improved strategies

will see all players improve their capacity and output this year.

We will improve more than all other clubs

we will improve enough to challenge all teams

Quite similar to others for me:

Tyson - potential to be the most complete player on our list IMO so with a good run I can't wait to see what he produces.

Trengove - some are suggesting he is only cut out to be a flanker but I expect him to prove his worth in the guts this year. Very smart player with skills to match, hopefully pace and confidence return and we will consider ourselves lucky to have a player with his class.

Michie - others have covered Viv's potential pretty well, basically looks ready to slot into an AFL midfield and that will be very welcome at the dees. Smooth mover with a cool head.

1. Trengove - If it's the same Trenners as last year, it's massive alarm bells and we'll need to think about what to do with him. He needs to be twice the player he was in 2012,.

2. Michie - Supposedly one of the steals with Freo fans sorry to see him go. Really keen to see what he can produce.

3. Toumpas - I have a feeling there's going to be no second year blues for Toump. Quite the opposite.

A quote from this article in today's HUN, Champion Data list analysis has reigning AFL premiers Hawthorn ahead of the pack

............

Quote: Melbourne, ranked second bottom on the overall list assessment behind Greater Western Sydney, is the only club not to have an "elite" player on its list for next season.

We are below GWS? Wonder who's last then. Saints?

Jack Watts - Surprised he's yet to feature in lists. Can play forward, can play back, great kick and now physically able to impose himself. New coach bringing him into the midfield surrounded by solid in and under mids able to get the ball to him (and Toumpas) to deliver with precision into our forward line... He will tear teams up this year.

Bernie Vince - Pride will be a big factor for Cross, Tyson and Vince, all discarded (traded) and with something to prove in 2014. Vince will hit the ground running and relish some big days in the spotlight on the G. Has all the tools and experienced enough to know how to turn it up... will kick goals and lift the team often.

Max Gawn - The ruck position is up for the taking, with Jamar seemingly injury prone and in decline. Max has talked it up, but lacked the strength and stamina to match it with the true ruck monsters for the four quarters to date. The addition of Stafford indicates Roos wants improvement in this area. If Max can mature physically, team (80:20) with Clark/Fitzy, and at least break even in the ruck position we'll have a better year.

True re- Watts Fatigue, and understandable. Just have the feeling that Roos will get the best from Jack, and that Jack is ready and able to really hurt teams.

Jack Trengove. Trengove's chart was heading up early years and MFC needs him to fulfill his potential as a quality midfielder. Important part of the midfield core if we are to improve.

Dom Tyson. The big midfield recruit. Looking to see what he can do.

Jesse Hogan. Don't care he is the obvious one, just excited to watch him go.

Tyson - our first touch of class in a long time. Looks smooth and ready to fire.

Fitzy - he will be the surprise packet of 2014. Constant improvement for every year at the club, clunking every mark at training.

Frawley - watch this space. If (a big, risky if I know) our midfield can learn defensive spread and help out our overworked backline, Chip will be an absolute star and a monty for AA. A huge dose of mongrel, a new team ethic around him, the confidence to push opposition forwards out of the way as he rebounds out of defensive 50. Man crush readily re-developing.

Evans, Strauss, Tappy and Blease will also be fascinating to watch.

Roughie: Barry. His training has got me looking at him a lot. Looking good.

Do those that don't mention Hogan know he has yet to play an AFL match yet?

How can you not have him as the number 1 in the terms of this thread?

You're keen to see Fitz? Really? I am more keen to see the bloke that is about to take his spot in the side.

(No offence to Fitz)

Watts - Talented, Roos is going to give him a set role and the development and confidence he needs.

Vince - Big game player, beautiful kick, will slot right in and be super important for our midfield for the next few years.

Trengove - After stagnating, he will start to fulfil the potential he showed in his first two years. Roos is a big fan and I expect to see Trengove become a midfield star.

Also excited to see the new superstar recruits Hogan and Tyson in red n blue!

Interested (not salivating) at watching Blease & Tapscott next year. They have both had enough opportunities now to show more than they have.

Seen enough of Vince and Cross to know what they will bring to the table and very happy.

As for the three however:

- Can not wait to see what Jesse will bring to the table.

- Not sure what Tyson will bring as have't seen him enough

- Same thoughts at Tyson mirror that of Michie.

Excited for both Michie and Tyson, just hoping we get our draft/trade period right this time

Watts - the new Architect.

Toumpas - Lets see what he can do.

Hogan - I think with his running ability, he will be utilized at CHF.

Did you say 3 players? Fcuk it.

Clark - Could he kick 100?

Tyson - Who is he and what can he do?

Gawn - He has the number 1 ruckman written all over him. A cult figure.

Salem - Our next Yze?

JKH - what a great pickup.

Howe - He could be anything.

Trengove - We know what he can do, now its time to do it, again.

Now that we have removed the baggage of Neeld, I believe we have one of the most exciting lists in the AFL.

I had him in but took him out.

Of course I'm keen to watch him but I'm wary of heaping too much expectation on an 18 year old in his first year. I'm sensing some expectation that he will dominate from the get go, which I don't think is wise or fair. But yeah, like everyone, excited at the prospect of seeing him play.

In order: -

1/ Jesse Hogan - I'd like to see what he can do at AFL level. I've seen him for Casey and in the U18's at rep level and I'm keen to see him take the next step. Yes, he's played NAB Cup and looked at home, but I want to see he prowess at the G, home and away in 2014. See him lead by example and see he, Clark's cohesion up forward. Hopefully working like clock work!

2/ Dom Tyson - Intrigued, that's why. He's an important pick up.

3/ Mitch Clark - Want to see him return to where he left off in 2012, fit and firing.

I want to see what we can do with a trio of key forwards. I would doubt that I've since anything at the Dees since the heady days of 94, before Jakovich went down.

So in saying that:

Clark - I think he can be a powerhouse

Hogan - hoping the kid can become a star

Dawes - even injured last year, I thought he did some inspirational things

The next three would be:

Trengove - we need you to be the player you should be

Watts - if the midfield can't be the making of him, nothing will

Nate Jones - let's see how good he can become with some actual support

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
