Indeed, I thought it was inevitable that one of he or Nicholson would go.

He was a player I always wanted to make it, as he played with the right type of aggression and, as you said, heart. Didn't really have the tools in the end - no shame in that. Really nice bloke too apparently.

Thanks Nev.

I'm not surprised but am disappointed. Always like Nev as a player. I hope GWS give him a go.

Doubt it. His only hope to stay in the AFL would be as a Rookie for us.

He would be better off killing it in the VFL/WAFL for someone.

Looks like Nicho will survive then, hope he proves me wrong..... Liked Jetta, but couldn't get his body right or any consistency (which hasn't been easy for many @ MFC with all the regime changes), but nevertheless fair call. Wish him luck for the future though, hopefully he can get picked up elsewhere.

Fair call. But I liked him.

Give him a job as the tackling coach.

[censored].....now what do I do with the three jumpers with nr 39 on, sad but probably inevitable, just couldn't get a run at it, tried his guts out everytime he played for either the Dees or Casey, and yes he was a bloody nice bloke....got 40 games in, so wasn't the spud some on here think.......... wouldn't surprise if he headed home to the west.......best mate Jamie Bennell now back on the Eagles list, they may look at him as well....

Yep... he was a nice guy (well, on the rare occasions I got a word)... have a nice photo from last year with him and my son (who will be disappointed to hear the news). I have two jumpers I have purchased through site auctions, Warnock's Shanghai jumper and Jurrah's St Patricks Day jumper... Nev can't blame me for this one.

Can someone clarify for me: We can re-draft him (or any of our delisted players) in either the national draft or rookie draft, can't we? I'm not saying we should, but just want to understand the "three live picks" in the draft rule.

Three new players in the ND to the Primary List. It includes rookie elevations. We only have to use 9 and 40 as Clisby has been elevated. If we did that it would mean we would get another player in DFA or the PSD.

It's a shame, but while he was held up at times by injury, I think he came pretty close to realising his potential as an AFL player.

All the best in your future, Nev.

I would not be upset if we rookie him. Hard trier, dogged by injury and never got his confidence up in an inept team. Will do better in a more polished and focused outfit.

When does the time cut off to pick up delisted free agents?

You were always a fan. Thought him better than Bennell from day one.

I suppose two wrongs make you right.

Had to happen, never saw him show anything that would make me believe he would make it at the AFL level.

Tend to agree.

Sounds like he was a nice bloke but if you could not get a regular game in the worst side in the comp

Then you are probably not up to it.

That was a good trip to WA when we took both him and his mate.

My god we have been wonderful in the recruitment department.

I had a long chat to him 2 years ago at a family day at Casey. I had a soft spot for him after this and loved his physicality for a small bloke. Injuries cruelled him and we never got to see a fit and firing Nev. I hope he gets another go somewhere but I doubt it.

When does the time cut off to pick up delisted free agents?

Approximately 24 hours ago.

No. The 2nd DFA commences tomorrow and closes Monday. The 3rd DFA opens again Friday week and closes the following Monday.

Well, I did say approximately!

The delisted free agent period opens 3 different times.

It will be open again once more after the draft, November 22nd - 25th.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
