We will host 3 games in NT next year

I know it is only a practise game but a game in AS in February!

It will be still 40 degrees at 10.00 PM.

What gives here?

Absolute joke od, we are obviously doing it for the money we pay our membership then miss two home games to be played in Alice Springs and Darwin.

I know we get make up games, but if you pay for a reserved seat in advance it's tuff [censored] and you get general admission to the make up (2) games. The other issue is we seem to fall in an even bigger heap for the next two games we play.

So we must have been playing every third week in Darwin for the past 7 years?

That explains it! Now i'm not so worried as we are only playing 2 games up north this year.

I wonder if this will have much effect in regards to recovery for the subsequent games. It definitely looked as though it affected us this year though that might have been our usual shitness.

Welcome to the world of the interstate member... we pay, but rarely get to see them play live unless we can afford to fork out for fares and accommodation.

Not happy Jan! You think the AFL will give us a bye after these games to let us recover? Not! But it is something we should be discussing with them for the future if this is going to be the norm!

With two byes, it's possible we'll get both byes after each of these games, which would be nice.

Edit: This would make our byes in Rounds 12 and 17; surely they'll be further apart than 5 weeks, so I doubt this will be the case.

More importantly, let's hope that moving a second home game interstate means we don't get shafted with a home game at Etihad.

As an Alice local, this is awesome news.

The easiest way for us to see Melbourne play is either: Adelaide, which seems like an awful thing to do given our tendency to get thumped by 12 goal margins or Darwin, which is pretty expensive to get to. The few Melbourne supporters (and Port) I know here will be pumped.

As for the February game; it'll be just like that heat training we did last year in Darwin. That really paid off...

Have I missed something or is the NT about to become our Major sponsor?

They seem to be throwing some money our way....and we need it so will bend over and take it!

I want to know how much $ in hand we get for the second game. Don't want to hear it's part of anything else, I just want cash money. Must say I did expect to be sent to Cairns to do the AFL's bidding there, so this is not a huge surprise.

Next stop, Norfolk Island.

"The Club will host the first ever game for premiership points in Alice Springs during Indigenous Round, against Port Adelaide in Round 11."

If it is a night match that time of year cold will be more of a problem than heat. A day game would be in very pleasant conditions.

June / July the mean maximum is around 20 and the nights get down to low single digits.

So if we are pushing for a bye after one of our NT games I would certainly suggest we push for it to be after the Darwin game.

Granted, the preseason game should be a night one, assuming that there are appropriate facilities which I think there are. If they try to pull a day one on us we should site OH&S issues!! Days get into the 30s, sometimes higher, and nights to high teens in February / March.

Usually the darwin game falls around my birthday and so I have gone to darwin recently to use it as a holiday

Fabulous! We are making so much from the game we'll make sure a big cake with birthday candles is supplied!

So we play in the NT before Queens Birthday. Great. The Filth will be rapt.

It better wipe the debt. That's all i can say.

The last 7 years have left a great stain on this club.

The top clubs get the prime fixtures and until we kick some arse on the field we will be beggars gathering the crumbs of the likes of whorethawn, the filth, essendrug etc.

And one is R11 the week before we play Collingwood on Queens Bday which, whether you like it or not, is our flagship H&A game.

How much is this deal worth? No mention of that in the article.

I understand why they've done this but I'm not happy about it at all.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
