Has he really left the Crows, look at the gold line between his feet.

One things for sure he's a decent replacement for that non trying Sylvia.

The advent of Bernie Vince and some of other "buys" from the off season have been a revelation. There was always going to be a comparison between he and Colin Sylvia because they were virtual swaps but they are different players but I think what struck me was that Bernie was going 100% even though it was a practice game. Colin was always hot and cold and would go in and out of the game in an instant.

The input of the off-season midfield recruits such as Vince, Mitchie, Cross and Tyson on Friday was very very impressive and it will define our season. Already I think many Demonlanders are re-thinking their predictions for the Win-Loss ration over the first five games of the season (and hopefully many will be leaning towards my heroic prediction of winning 4/5). When one consider what these guys will add to the midfield, the realisation that we have acquired a sturdy midfiled back-up in Georgiou, an exciting forward pocket in JKH and we still have to debut our trio of power forwards, I suspect that 2014 is going to be an exciting year for Demon supporters.

Welcome to the MFC Bernie Vince!

Had to laugh at that little story about his trip to the ground. He left Dawesy with his Ute, which is a manual. He said Dawesy can't drive manuals, so he was a little concerned about what had become of his prized vehicle! Also reckoned he was kinda stuffed by the time he finally got to the ground around 40 minutes late.

Very impressed with our Bernie. Seems like a really likeable kid. And, he certainly performed on the centre stage in his first hit-out for the Club. A great get!

I thought he was our best player, he covered a lot of ground and was involved at the stoppages. He looked fit like he could run all day, great to see him enjoying his footy, I thought he worked well with Cross, Michie and Crossy. Without Vince I think we would of lacked run. His experience really showed, his disposal was good. I don't remember seeing him play like that for a long time. Great start to the year.

I love Vince.

We absolutely nailed this draft period.

After so many years of trying, I cannot believe we seem to have built a credible midfield in a one month period at the end of last year.

Thank you Adelaide. And GWS. And the Bulldogs. And Jason Taylor/Todd Viney.

Finally we addressed our most glaring weakness. Still waiting to see how this midfield group stand up in the real stuff but I am far more confident than previous years. Lack of injuries in this area helps also, Viney is the only one I can think of to come in from Friday night.

Really liked his running and love his ability to hit targets. Very happy with the acquisition.

But I have to ask..... who is going to be the one to start the Vince vs Crouch argument?

Love young Crouch as a clearance mid who just kills for the ball but I think with us already having one in Viney and the need for a bit of experience then Vince was the right man for us. He is a big step up from Silvia, cool under pressure, a good decision maker, sees all the options and uses the ball well.

That may come down the line, but I would like to remind 'future rpfc' how dire our current senior midfielder stocks were and how much we needed another strong body in amongst the kids.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
