Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm not a fan of Watts and it's fine to say that he isn't putting in the work, we should trade him etc.

But I think we should refrain from downright insulting our players, not sure there is anything to be gained from this thread

What's to be gained you ask? Somebody, anybody, even if it's a supporter on a forum needs to shine a light on the weak, lazy culture of our players that is epitomised by Jack Watts. If I was senior coach the whole side would be watching this as JW sat in the corner with a dunce's cap on. We need to demand better than this.

The first bit of footage is absolutely inexcusable. The second wasn't great, but it didn't smack of the same atrocious lack of desire as the first one.

Ship him off to wherever, and replace him with someone who has the will to win.

It's just not really necessary now, everyone is aware that Watts' efforts are rubbish

I was there on sunday, and it looked as if Watts' performance replicated his performance on the footy show thursday night. No passion, no fight & disinterested.

I think the writing is on the wall that he is definitely leaving at the end of the year.

C&B, assume you picked this up and listened to the commentary.

I am in no way defending Jack Watts as I thought he was below par yesterday, but a couple of points....on the second one, he was running back with the flight and palmed it backwards to Terlich, Terlich probably being afraid of taking the Freo player's legs out or being caught holding the ball did not dive at the ball, Hill reacted quicker and passed off to Ballantyne, so perhaps not wholly Watts' problem

As for the first one, HIll had two players tracking him apart form Watts, who both missed him, what would your reaction be if Watts had also gone to Hill and left the man inside who got the ball back, Jordie Mc was supposed to be marking him but got blocked, Matt Jones was coming across and Trengove from the other side so 4 Melb players let Hill score

All too easy to sit in the commentary box or behind a keyboard and pass judgement

Whats he meant to do there? Hill is extremely agile and Watts also had 2 players cut in front of him

Serious? He could have:

1. Gone and attacked the ball instead of being reactive and waiting for the opposition to get it first.

2. Pushed harder and corralled him with his 6'5 frame so he couldn't get past

3. Nail him with a massive tackle and at least dive to try and get him (like Trenners who ran from further away to at least try and add some pressure).

Don't give me the "whats he meant to do?" rot. That defeatist attitude is one of the reasons why we are in this god awful mess.

These are only a handful of JW's poor efforts and lack of will for the contest.

His behavior on the footy show illustrates why he has only 2 games left to make a statement on staying v leaving.

To bring his fan squad onto the footy show and engage in their homage. Sam Newman was right to question what he has ever done to ask questions of the club. In my opinion his only achievement so far is being selected number 1 draft pick. Jack Watts represents what is wrong with our club and can either play like his life depends in it for the next 2 games or never don the Red and Blue again.

his attitude and actions on and off the field have been utterly disrespectful to the mfc and its supporters, we could have managed him better but he was a number 1draft pick, lauchie whitfield is a skinny lad and playing at AFL level so thats no excuse not to have a dig.

cya later jack.

thanks mods for stashing the video in this thread where nobody will see it, glad i went to the trouble to upload it

If people want to find it they will. There is no need to have so many threads on the one topic.

The club should explore it options with regard to a trade but maintain the desire to re-sign him. We need to maintain our assets, we don't have too many.

We are insulting his performance not him as a person. JW is insulting his team, supporters and the MFC heritage through his weak performance and petulant behavior on The Footy Show last week.

In contrast Col Silvia, a free agent with currency in the market, declares he wants to help turn MFCs fortunes around and plays accordingly.

I know I'll get howled down for saying the following.

Part of the reason Watts doesn't seem to be trying is that he is smart enough to realise he will have no impact on the play at times no matter what he does. So he doesn't make pointless attempts to involve himself. Of course when he gets that judgement wrong he looks absolutely lazy.

Note I say 'Part of the reason" and "at times". I'm not excusing his overall attitude, just saying.

With all due respect Sue youre advocating that Watts can pick Lotto number or read Tea leaves if hes able to so accurately foretell the immediate future. What that really smacks of is the DGAF's

Fair dinkum players will ALWAYS try even when seemingly futile for it tells not only his team mates that hes prepared to put in 100% but conveys the same to the opposition. During that game it would have been obvious to anyone within cooee of Watts ( as a Freo player ) that he ( JW ) wasnt really interested in a contest.

GAME OVER

I just did a bit of digging myself. I watched 'Jack Watts' First Goal' and couldn't help but notice that almost every Demon player featuring in this video is no longer at the club. Time will tell if Watts joins them.

Look at where his eyes are when the ball hits the hands.

This is how you work hard to apply defensive pressure in the backline

This is the effort you get for investing 5 years of support and hundreds of thousands of dollars into a number 1 draft pick

Dollars? Maybe. Five years of support? Not at this club.

Nonetheless, I see your point. Whilst the second part of that clip was pointless (Watts did nothing wrong), the first passage of play was indicative of what is wrong with Watts.

Whether or not you think you're going to catch him (and we all know he wouldn't have, it was Stephen Hill), you have to care and you have to put the hard work in. Especially when playing in defence. Pathetic effort.

What crap.

Watch how hard Spencer is running after two opponents, both far far quicker than him, and how Matt Jones chases after Hill despite it being a futile exercise at that point, while Watts stands and watches.

I saw Viney quite seriously frog jump into and over a pack to get the ball. I'm not expecting Watts to break his nose every week, but I expect basic effort, especially down the back when his laziness is directly costing us goals!

And yes, Hill is a great player and super quick. Guess what, Watts is quick too and could be a great player if it wasn't for his application and attitude.

Some of his lazy kicks yesterday screamed "I don't want to be here".

It's infurating when guys like Magner, who have 4% of his talent, work their arse off in the VFL, get 51 disposals, and don't get senior games because they don't have the potential of Watts. But realistically, rewarding Watts on potential, and his draft ranking has only hurt him and us.

He is cheating himself and his teammates. If I was Tom McDonland or Colin Garland I'd have lost my sh*t at him.

He should take note of Jordie's effort

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
