Bring on the misery train. First stop, infighting and division.

One gets the sense that a memo went out recently that ASADA were about to move with the issuing of infraction notices and all the key stakeholders; EFC, Hird, AFL, WADA started to roll out their strategies.

does doesn't it.

Bendigo Bombers to be promoted to the AFL shortly.

Sorry to break the news to you sue but the Bendigo Bombers went out of existence at the end of 2012 when Essendon cut off its contacts with that club and went its own way.

The Bendigo VFL team now goes under the name "Bendigo Gold" and I wish the Essendon AFL team as much success in 2014 as the Bendigo Gold had in 2013.

Don't get too excited about Essendon's impending demise. ASADA still looking into MFC. There is still a lot of unanswered questions.

It would be very unfortunate if any of our players were sanctioned as a result of ASADA looking into the MFC but if that day comes then I hope we respond more responsibly and honestly than the Essendon Football Club whose behaviour on the issue of what it did to its own players, staff, supporters and ultimately itself has been reprehensible.

Amazing that this saga has cost them around $3.9 million so far.

If the players (more like when) they get served this cost will sky rocket and it wont be pretty...

John Fahey not very happy with Essendon or worksafe victoria.

"Multiple Charges" heading to the Hangar.

Feel so sad for them ...

I think I might crack a bottle of wine to help myself cope with the pain.

I certainly hope it doesn't drag on for a couple of years as some have suggested, I'd like see to the cheats dealt with now, not after they've had a couple or more years football behind them. I don't want to see the Bombers hold up a premiership cup and then have half the team suspended the following year.

Middle of the year would be a ruin the next 3 seasons for the club.

I assume if something like that happened there is a good chance the current AFL administration would fall too. Godly whoever takes over actually cats about football and not money.

It may be a bad time for the AFLPA to be requesting a fixed share of income.

I'm still wondering what the AFL will do if ASADA serves notices...so far they have just been charged with bringing the game into disrepute; will the AFL take further action beyond the penalties ASADA imposes?

The photo is deliberately blurred and I can't make out the rest of them (don't care much, frankly), but Jab W looks a lot thinner in the face this year.

I don't think that the EFC can do anything to distance themselves from Hird untill the infraction notices are issued. They are hand in glove on this one (harder to tell who is hand and who is the glove...).

If/When the infraction notices arrive the EFC will be faced with a dilemma

1. Accept the Infraction notices and pay out players affected (i.e settle class action) sack Hird and all others associated with affair and move on .

2. Contest the Infraction Notices in court - this is probably Hird's preferred path but likely to be long, ugly and potentially futile, as the EFC fights ASADA, AFL and affected players Class action, while trying to play the 2014 Premiership season. If they lose this course of action they are faced with option 1 but have fully trashed the EFC brand, their relationships with AFL and their affected players...

By threatening to take option 2. as it appears Hird is, he must be hoping to cut off the infraction notices before they are issued. This would be the only possible thing that would save his career and reputation.

Brand already fully and irredeemably trashed.

Reputation also trashed. He is making a joke of himself and his club....arrogant ^&&^%&%(

Chapman extracts from the centre, to Goddard, back to Chapman who handballs back to Goddard who handballs to himself.

LOL...and what about Mr Z who was scared of needles, sensible chap?

So Hird still gets paid but his payment for 2014 is paid in 2013...

What a croc. Fundamentally he is better off having his 2014 salary paid in a lump sum in 2013 than originally (periodically throughout the 2014 year).

Laughable.

Posted

Just heard on the news that Hird will receive his 2014 pay this year and so not receive any pay next year. AFL have agreed. WTF?

Amazing…well I hope they get the works from ASADA now. I've had enough of this rubbish.

…and the AFL are doing everything they can to avoid court. Just putting off the inevitable, that day will come.

Pathetic but smart by Essendrug.

The AFL state that Hird can't be paid 2014, fine they pay him the lot in 2013.

Dimwit-e-o agrees as he knows once again their wording was amateurish.

DumbItrou is back-pedalling as fast as he can, but he, as well as Esendrug have brought the game into far more disrepute over this than a Connoly aside joke - will the even handedness result in an appropriate sancta to all involved in this dark dark year for the AFL??? NBL !!!!

Weren't the AFL suggesting that any payment to Hird on and from his signing of the agreement in August was improper?

This is not even funny but it is feeble. As weak as. Time the AFL grew some cojones.

So James gets a lump sum and about $50,000 free interest for doing nothing but causing trouble.

Get stuck in WADA. i have had a gutfull of these shifty bastards....

Like Love!

What arrogance by the Bummers, and what a pathetic backdown by AD.

Disrepute level rises to stratospheric levels.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
