Viv Michie

Do you only have to nominate rookie upgrades by today ? i.e This isnt the last list lodgement so you might possibly be in limbo until the last lodgement ?

this is only list lodgement 1, i believe... so depending on who are released by other clubs thru the remaining list lodgement's, may make or break, some of ours. ?

So we'll find out today for certain whether Michie was contracted for 2016 or not.

2:00pm is the deadline for OOC players to nominate for the draft, with the 2nd list lodegement dut tomorrow.

Looks like it must have been a 3 year deal he was initially on.

Hope so. He showed a bit towards the end of the season.

Yes agree Ron.

Last 4 rounds of this year he averaged 20 touches (9 contested), 3 tackles and 4 marks. Not huge numbers but promising enough for a bloke who has only played 18 games.

Viv almost certainly offers more over the than pick 46 in a shallow draft.

I think Viv has shown something when he has had a chance to play.
As said earlier, it looks like he is on a three year deal. Give him his last year then reassess. Unlike a lot of the players we want to give 'one more year' to, I think he might come good next year.

Really hope we don't give up on this bloke. I've wanted him to do well since coming over from Freo and always watch him closely. He was one of our best in the four rounds and showed he has the tools to make it.

Surely he offers more than a late pick.

Nope To the rookie list. Stupid move in my view.

Agreed.

Are you a relative of Viv btw?

No. Spoken to him once. Just know people who know people. I take an interest in Viv because of his time at freo and more particularly Peel. Then moved here and he was over here. People at Peel will tell you what a great talent he is but has had serious injuries so never gets a real run at it. Even at MFC he split an eyelid first game and could not wear contact lens, dropped to the 2s and gets a broken Jaw. Never let the set backs get in his way. Just hope he gets another go but that looks like some sort of injury will be the main hope which no one wants. His biggest problem is he is such am introvert. Looking forward to his year and watching Tyson this year. Hes another good talent.

May or may not, but when I look at the list he and Matt Jones are the only players I truly shudder at.

Rewind to 3 years ago.... there were probably 15 players we shuddered at. The list turnover and replenishment has been huge.

Jack Grimes and then I'm with you.

taking 4 draft picks is the way to go and if there are any early injuries he will be easily upgraded, and im not to sure about the rookie list but he can surely be a nominated rookie.

Of our rookie list last year, three were able to play games with Vandenberg playing round 1 and both Harmes and White earning a spot in the side later in the year, so it has no effect on his ability to play in the 1s.

Terlich being contracted meant that Melbourne had no other choice and it would have been stupid to not take a shot at a 4th pick in the draft. No doubt would we have asked Terlich if he wanted to be paid out of his contract but the offer was obviously not as good as one more year of AFL for Terls.

Poor Viv.. if i was him id be shitty the fact Terlich is still on the senior list..

Anyway i guess that leaves us with 4 spots to take into the draft.

I doubt it.

If the shoe was on the other foot, and Viv was contracted but Terlich wasn't and we cut Viv loose mid contract, he would be a lot more annoyed.

We have to honour contracts, I'm sorry that we made crappy list management decisions, but it isn't Terlich's fault.

It is the best solution given we need list space for draft and rookie promotions.

Viv only needs to speak to Jetta to understand that this is not the end of the world.

The only reason he was cut was because both of Jones and Terlich had a year to run on their contracts.

ironically. If i were to bet ...id say come this time next year M jones and Turls will both be gone.

Viv might also but of these three id only give Michie a chance of succeeding.

Its his to take if he's up for it.

Agreed.

I thought if we were to delist a player and then look to re-rookie them, then Jauden Hunt would have been most likely. Or even do it with Terlich, just like St Kilda have with Josh Saunders who's also contracted.

I thought Michie had shown enough to warrant a new deal, even for only 12 months ahead of a speculative Pick 50 (to be amneded) in a shallow draft.

I'm guessing the club think there was greater chance of Michie lasting until whichever rookie draft pick we select him at then there was of Hunt. Why they didn't look at rookie listing Terlich I don't know?

Either way, I hope we're able to re-draft Michie, as there's a very good chance someone else may swoop.

First you would have to get his agreement.

If I were Terlich I would do as he has apparently done and say No Deal.

As for Michie ordinary is the best I saw

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
