Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

The Chris Yarran Thread

All I want to know is why Nasher is being so irrational when it comes to a player like Yarran.

He clearly possesses a number of attributes that our club is in desperate need of and I would argue that

his weaknesses and the areas of his game he needs to work on are identical to Watts'.

Mental application which will result in a greater sense of urgency and intensity on field and a desire to work really hard both ways.

What the [censored] is the point of having development coaches and this idea of creating a 'great club culture' if people like Nasher completely rule out a player's ability to change their mental application?

Forget personal vendettas.

Answer the [censored] question.

Yarran is contracted till the end of 2015........IMO is an average player in an average team......He has leg speed(Blease) but doesn't get the ball anywhere near what we would require.......He has occasional bursts of brilliance which we all think is terrific but goes missing for long parts of the game.....I think we have enough of them.

Anyone who saw Yarran in his 3 goal performance in round 4 v West Coast would be crying out for his services.

ive written this before

had a misunderstanding with mm

haS DEFINAYTEY dropped his bundle

clearly better than a bunch of our current stock

most running bounces under rattan on the hbf

absolutely cuts opposition to ribbons when GIVEN the pill, and that's what dumb backman and ruckman are for, giving off the ball to clean running players

I wouldn't judge him just on this year

personally I would give the keys to the safe for jack stevens and rory Sloane 7 years service each

The reality in my view is this: If his mental application is questionable at Carlton, with the resources at thier disposal for player development, what hope does the single WORST club in the league at player development have at turning him around?

Yes we are looking to improve in this area, but our record in recent times is frankly abysmal. Our best bet, in our current state, is to be focussing on developing the younger players. The more seasoned players we bring to the club need to be able to hit the grounding running in terms of how they apply themselves. They need to be able to LEAD, not be led.

A player like Yarran is not what this club needs in our current state.

Yarran doesn't run hard, nor does he work for the team. Has talent, but so did Lawrence Angwin, Andrew Lovett etc.

He has less application than Watts ..... and also less talent.

Also, steve, I think you overestimate yourself. But, unlike Nasher, I actually find your meltdowns perversely amusing.

The guy is the same age as Watts. He has an amazing skill set and needs some setting straight in other areas of his game. Much like Watts.

The bias on here is disgusting.

I agree that in the past, our environment may not have helped develop these areas of Yarran's game, but does that mean we should continue to make decisions based on the past? If PJ and the AFL are overseeing every coaching decision and we get the right group of people that can really bring about change, Yarran would have every opportunity of improving some of these weaknesses.

The main issue with Yarran at the moment is speculation about his relationship with Malthouse. If that's the case then even more power to our recruiters to get him across.

I would have Yarran on our list ahead of many.

And forget draft number and talent.

Cale Morton supposedly had talent and went at number 4. Yarran has more talent in his left toe nail.

I think you have made your point, shortly we will see whether the footy department are in agreeance…

No Bob, you've declared that Watts has more application and talent then Yarran.

A Carlton supporter would say the opposite.

You are biased and they are too.

Neither yourself or Nasher have nothing but MFC blind faith to back your opinions on so you will automatically give less thought and time to players from other teams. Even if they're at a similar development point to someone like Watts.

You both clearly don't have the capacity to critically think about this and that's why you're both so hell bent on believing we shouldn't go after Yarran.

It's comical really.

Explain to me how Yarran has both more talent and more application than Watts and therefore is a better proposition than him in a straight trade.

Entertain me.

Just stumbled into here...

Like Steve, i reckon Yarran is a rare talent. I watched him cut a swathe through the midfield at Casey during the junior champs years ago. Such a smooth mover with pace and elite skills.

But I don't think you could make a decision either way on the guy without knowing his personal makeup. Clearly there are reasons he hasn't progressed and one might be that he's lazy and doesn't want it badly enough. He's the sort of player that could be a sensational pick up, or torch you.

I reckon you'd take the punt if you were a strong club with a good list, as you can't get access to his type of talent in the draft. He's not for Melbourne though. Even if he'd fit in remarkably well.

Even a fool makes sense occasionally - you, not me.

But as you're my new friend, why don't you enunciate to me with where you usually disagree ? Is this Wattsy thingy ?

Funny, most posters were probably thinking you were the fool making very occasional sense. If you are in need of new friends, look elsewhere. BTW, are you still not attending Melbourne games until they start to win? Now that you mention it, you do sound like Jack Watts, won't re-sign because he thought the team would be better placed for him. Lol.

I wouldn't confuse agree with 'like'. Time to wake up now.

Wise words indeed Demonstrative. A bad dream.

Malthouse and Yarran have obviously fallen out, and I think he will be put on the trade table at the end of the year.

He could easily play midfield and is probably the fastest guy in the league.

Seems to be struggling under the disciplinarian regime, would be great for us i reckon.

Any thoughts ?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
