18 disposals 24 hit outs and 8 marks up against Mike Pyke and Shane Mumford.

Bye Bye Jamar..

PS: Please sign a new contract!

Totally agree.

Does more around the ground in one game than what Jamar gives us in a year.

Yep , he's definitely got Jamar covered, all he needs is a couple of decent rovers that read the play and our fortunes may change quickly.

A long way to go for big Max, looks like he will get to run out the year now which is going to be great for his development. So much upside.

The great thing about Gawn is that he will pursue the ball after it spills and try to shepherd or tap to advantage.

It doesn't always come off but his endeavour cannot be faulted.

I'm a big Gawn fan, but his ruckwork needs a LOT of work.

Given his height, he does not get his hands on it enough in the ball ups, and realistically we are still better in the middle with Jamar. But, he has already shown more than many ruckman have at his age, and with practically no experience.

Could be one of the better rucks going around in a few years time.

Gawn is VERY impressive, considering he doesn't quite have the mature body yet, he has struggled on the boundary thrown ins because of this.

Next year Max will be bigger and better and from there, he should only improve, he has been deprived of football has young Max.

All the sudden Barry P is looking like a genius after today!

We should trade Jamar.

I think Collingwood, Hawthorn and GWS would be interested.

Hawthorn wouldn't. Bailey is better than Jamar so is Hale and they can have Roughy as a back up ruck if they just have one available. They have Ceglar, Grimley and others on the list.

GWS depends on if they get Bellchambers otherwise Jamar would be a back up to Giles how Brogan has been.

Collingwood it appears Jamar is on par with Hudson and Jolly. If either of those 2 go they might have some interest.

I think we want Gawn to be a very good ruck not just an average ruck. So I'd encourage the competition that keeping Spencer and Jamar provides. Not to mention with rucks you have to always have the depth and say at least 1 might be injured at any stage.

This is only the first time he's had a period as a starting ruck so it's great for him but it's also early days. This season for him is equal to the first or second season for a midfielder or running player.

The talls he picked in Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Watts, McDonald and Davis weren't too bad. Shame him couldn't land a midfielder in a raft of high draft picks.

Who do we get in return? I'd take Two of Savage Ellis or Hallahan

Hes on a massive contract with 2yrs to run, he's to big a risk for a smart club, were stuck with him.

He is a big risk for a smart club, but also, he is a big reward for a club with good midfielder beneath him.

For any side needing a ruckman to boast their chances of winning a flag, they could do worse than landing Jamar.

Melbourne won't trade Jamar. They made him a life member earlier this year.

He attacks the footy hard, often fluffs the disposal in close but it's a decision making not a skill issue for mine.

Could become a real weapon.

We need to sign Gawn up pronto.

Ruck men as tall as he is and as good around the ground as he can be don't grow on trees.

His ruck work needs to continue to be refined, but I believe that the sky might be the limit for the big man.

Very exciting.

Just regarding ruck coaching. David Loats former cat use to be our ruck coach I think around the time when jamar got All Australian but apparently he was pretty [censored] off when Neeldy gave him the flick soon as came in.

Posted

Jamar is effectively our ruck coach. Why would we trade him?

I wouldn't be adverse to paying him for that role in 2015 instead of as a player. Surely if he had a 2014 similar to this year and Gawn and Spencer improved he'd realise his career wouldn't extend past 2015 anyway.

I'd honour the contract financially but free up a list spot.

Why on earth trade Jamar? We are one injury away from having Fitz as first ruck. FCS, we have been turfing club stalwarts like no ones business and now the calls are to turf another.

For all Jamar's lack of around the ground stats, he has a massive role to play. A mature body, leadership and ruck depth. His retention will also let us shop for a rookie / late pick to build some depth.

If only we had taken Hanneth.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
