I love Howe but you are kidding yourself if you wouldn't trade Howe for one of the best mids going around!

Well when you take into consideration Mr Roos and his right hand man Stone would have had a significant contribution to Kennedy being the player he is today, then it makes trading Howe look like a big loss for us.

I'm confident we'll make inroads next year without Kennedy and giving up Howe and pick 9 is not looking at the bigger picture.

Roos wouldn't do it.

No to 9 and Howe for Kennedy. Not worth it. Howe will be a star. Hold on to pick nine, we still need good youth coming through. And fitz stays, he's a champ, after all he's been through we must hold on to him, such strong character to get through all his ups and downs and still produce what he did in season 2013.

I find it funny that you don't want to trade 'might be a star' for 'is a genuine star'.

Assuming Kennedy sits Sydney down and says "I want out right now" could Howe+9 for Kennedy+35 be a possibility?

It would be laughed at if we were trying to buy him but if the rumours are true we may have a bit of an upper hand in negotiations.

At 25 Kennedy isn't too old to spend on, and with that sort of purchase we would be hoping to look to be fighting for the 8 and the top 4 in 2015/2016.

We have Hogan this year so we are still adding genuine youth, and got Toumpas and Viney last year, so I'm not too concerned about trading out early picks especially in a weak draft. Next year we'd need to make sure we keep the youth rebuild coming or only buy middle aged players (24-26 not 28+) so our list doesn't age too quickly.

It would be a coup, but what could we afford to give up is the question.

Note I can't see Sydney letting him go, with buying Buddy they expect to challenge next year, so won't want to lose him. The only chance is that Kennedy goes strong now and the trade happens while Sydney have a chance to on trade picks for other immediate impact players.

25, how good is Toumpas going to be?

A hell of a lot better than he would have been if we'd stuck with the old FD.

Christ! We have two of the best development coaches and environment builders in the comp!

Have some faith. Toumpas could be anything. He's played one year in the worst team in the AFL with the worst midfield in the AFL.

CONTEXT.

Man Oh Man!! This trade would mark the official end of the Norm Smith Curse if it comes off.

I can't see it happening but I'm going to be smiling at the thought all the way until 2pm on Friday. That's a lot of smiling for this old Dees Supporter. And if it doesn't happen I'll still be smiling at what they've achieved already.

If it was to happen they will definitely be in for a ruckman. Who would you rather lose Spencil or the Russian. I reckon I'd rather have a fit Russian helping out for the next two years. He's a better ruckman then Spencil and by then Gawn Dog will be in full cry. I don't think Spencil is going to get much better and he'd be good for them as he's young and more importantly cheap.

I wouldn't want to give up Howe or Toumpas. They are the future. But on the other hand I live in Sydney and wouldn't mind watching Howe every week. But on the other hand it would kill me not seeing him with the Dees. Ah life, it's so complicated.

I'd love to do that trade but I think Spence will only decrease the value of the package, not add to it.

25 is better than i as thinking....

I'm hoping Toumpas is a least as good as Kennedy... But at 25, that wouldn't be bad actually...

I wouldn't swap Howe and pick 9. Or toumpas and pick 9.

Yes Kennedy is a player, but people forget that you can still land stars at pick 9 and Toumpas will be a fantastic player in the right environment.

Howe will develop into an amazing player also. I'm sure of it. You have to think about how these players will be with another two to three years development in the right environment.

For me Toumpas and Howe both have too much potential and with pick 9 it's a loss. I also believe Roos wouldn't trade Howe or Toumpas.

The only way I see this working is trading pick 9, perhaps our pick in the 50's and someone on the outer.

We still have the nucleus of a fantastic list if it can be developed the right way and Roos would be the first to recognise this.

Kennedy is the perfect example of a player who blossomed under Roos and the environment that was provided. It's no different for someone like Howe or Toumpas.

I agree. Kennedy is great, personally in my eyes he isn't what everybody talks him up to be. Howe will be fantastic, he has shown he can play around the ground, the kids jump and grab is second to no one, and I literally mean no body has a better leap and grab. He is slso a very good shot on goal. He has been a light in our clubs darkest time. I doubt very much that Roos would trade this kid, only for Garry abblet or Joel selwood lol kidding.

Is it possible when he did the 4 year deal the Swans sold him a story of keeping the team together a la Geelong which proved to be a bit of porkie given they had been talking to Buddy? Now that would really [censored] some people off.

Lol with howes current achievements and the number of grabs he has taken, your willing to back the chance he will amount to nothing? Your kidding yourself. I'm simply saying kennedy is not worth pick 9 and Howe.

Howe's goal kicking has improved, but can't say I've ever thought of him as a very good shot

Isn't it the case that you can't trade a player before their original two-years out of the draft is over? Or is that not a thing?

I think it is allowed. Richmond were after Tyson last year.

My source has confirmed that Roos is having a crack for Kennedy with pick 9 and a player, however, he thought the likelihood of success at less than 30%.

He also said that this had come out of left field. As widely reported in the press MFC traded out for pick 2 for 9 as they were certain that one of the "ready made" players they would like to pick would still be available at 9. Therefore we essentially got Tyson for effectively nothing. MFC believe there is very little between pick 2 & 11 in this years draft.

Kennedy would be a mega coup.

GNF you are the only the only man I have ever loved

The very thought just caused me to crack a fat.

Well that was worth the rumour then!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
