Jesse Hogan Highlights.

I can't contain myself.

Loved the bit in the telecast when Rhys Jones compared him to W Carey.

The question is did we do the right thing by picking him up in the mini draft at the expense of pick 3 and potentially Ollie Wines?

The CEO of GWS was on SEN today and said he was surprised more talent wasn't traded for by victorian clubs. Jaeger O'Meara was up for grabs and nobody wanted to trade for the pick

We did the right thing and it will pay off in big HUGE BUCKETS

Melbourne were keen on O'Meara but Harrington was asleep at the wheel and stuffed it up.

I thought Harrington was the list manager... ie, he manages contracts and the TPP so that we don't go over the cap. I'm not aware he was involved in making decisions about drafting or trading, except where money or contracts are concerned.

Was that not BP's responsibility?

what are you, high? every club in the comp would consider that kid to be the biggest asset in football.. there are plenty of midfielders bouncing around, but an 18 year old key forward like that is pretty much unprecedented

I don't care what anyone says, to turn Scully's betrayal into getting Hogan, Viney and Toumpas in one go was an absolute masterstroke by those involved

Love the way Hogan gave one of the defender the f'off elbow in the ribs after he marked. Got a touch of the arrogant about him...

I may have misheard him, but I thought he suggested that he expected more mature players would have been traded to GWS for the likes of O'Meara and high draft picks, and this seems to be in line with the AFL's intentions regarding the mini-draft.

Elite mature players were never going to be traded for even the best young players available. The AFL knew this and that is why they allowed the expansion teams unrestricted access to players coming out of contract.

On topic, I can't wait to see Hogan rip the filth reserves apart at their spiritual home on July 27th.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that question was tongue in cheek.

It was harringtons trade to make. He was keen for one of the mini draft picks too. He soon bailed when he realised Gws were holding everyone over a barrel and trying to shake them loose.

Just read the article today. They say that pick 1 is up for trade. As a minimum they would want a player equivalent to Trent Cotchin.

Yes that's right. Minimum. A number 2 draft pick with 5 years development. A captain. Minimum. But its the Victorian clubs fault that they have no mature talent because they won't trade with them. Even though they were able to pick 1 player from each club for free and failed to do so.

Very impressive. Melbourne should dig deep and find the money to have a cameraman at all the remaining games and film Hogan and Dom and others to let supporters see their progress.

I agree, and send Paul Roos and James Frawley a copy

I think we all would have loved O'mera but were never in the hunt. GCS used pick 4 to get him, something we never could have matched. We only had pick 12 that year and used that to secure Mitch Clarke.

We had players. We also had compensation picks. At the time I was quite keen to give up both compensation picks for Jager Omeara. I figured it would work out Scully for O'Meara which would be a win for us. I'm happy we didn't as we finished much lower than I expected and picked up Hogan plus more. Thank god Scully took the money.

I don't think we would have managed to trade a player to GWS that would have been of sufficient value and that we would be prepared to let go.

And we would have been interested in trading 1 compo pick but not both. So while some our ex staff got plenty wrong I don't think we were a realistic chance once GCS put up pick 4.
