WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

I found it pretty interesting that he was so candid in his desire to keep Watts and Sylvia, on the day of him being appointed. Pretty sure he brought it up without being prompted as well, but could be mistaken. This was despite him being alot more reserved when the issue of turning over the list came up, with him wanting to "get into the club, see how they train etc". I think that early vote of confidence will go a long way to keeping both players. For those who want them to stay.

He also guaranteed that whoever took over from him would see success. He didn't define "success", but the confidence was refreshing, and exciting.

It felt to me like he already knew they would both be staying

You said similar about Neeld.

However, as there is more love in the air today than Valentine's Day, B59, I'm more than happy to say. "I agree with you post"!!!

I was obviously deemented that previous occasion. The pills are working fine now however :)

Good on him, for Roos to say that boy would that put a spring in both those guys step. They are both very much confidence players and to have one of the most respected people in the AFL say that it would make them forget about the past and look forward to being coached by such a great man

It was amusing when PJ was arguing we deserved a PP and listing how bad we have been, not beating a top 8 club etc and he mentioned the exception of beating Sydney, Roos chimed in with a grumpy 'by 75 points'. Still rankles. Happy he has forgiven us.

First opportunity to get on D-Land today, I am in a state of euphoria. First off the achievement of coaxing someone to our club in such a dark time, secondly the fact that others were chasing him and we beat them, and thirdly (and most positively) the calibre of the man we've got.

We have to be careful about our messiah complex coming on show, but there is no reason why we shouldn't get excited because this guy did game changing things at the swans and he will generate positivity around the club. Jack Watts will stay, and if he doesn't lift under Roos then he will never be the player he's capable of being. The big question now comes who will be built as his successor?

Great work PJ!

Do you try and go against the grain on purpose or something? All year you were telling us everything was going to plan when we were clearly up to our eyeballs in dung, then when the best news that we've heard in arguably decades hits, you're the one person going "meh, I'll reserve judgement" when everyone else is doing cartwheels.

And congrats to you, Nasher. The site passed the Roos test.

The emerging Dees really put on a clinic against the tiring swans that day. Our young running players were too skilled and too smart and our midfield held up very well against a swans midfield that needed some rejuvenation with the likes of Kieran Jack and Josh Kennedy having taken them back to the top since that day.

Unfortunately they regrouped whilst Dean Bailey kept backing in the shaky parts of any plan - outside flashy football - without cementing the stuff that actually sets up those kind of wins.

Just a side thought

I bet we get a good draw next year courtesy of the AFL to give Roos a chance to get off to a real good start ;)

Been working but heard the news! Glad its announced (never was in doubt!). Do you think the AFL may schedule MFC vs Sydney Swans first round next year for some spice?

And secondly shame on all you guys for not being a member! But glad you are coming back on board!

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
