Ok but he is making a payment. Why would staff blurt it out over the phone to someone who is wanting to make a payment?

it was due to the fact he has a bookkeeper

only 2 members of our club have one

privaliges are upheld at head office

I'm overseas at the moment and my bookkeeper rang the club about a payment and she was told by one of the staff so she sent me an email.

Does your bookkeeper squirt their words out of the corner of their mouth and swing a large, brown satchel??

There are some generous people among us. Some of whom have gone a long way to rescuing this club from the brink on multiple occasions.

My guess...those people may be afforded some additional "comfort" by way of information.

definitely agree with this post

winning games 9 goals to 7 goals will really get on my nerves

I'm sure we'd all prefer winning games 120 to 60.

I'm also sure we'd also agree, though, that winning games 70 to 60 would be preferable to what we're going through right now.

Finally, the notion that Melbourne with Roos = Sydney circa 2005 is not correct. One of many problems with both Bailey and Neeld was that they brought in game plans they wanted to implement, but that were being left behind by the competition. Roos brought in his Sydney game plan to counter the style of football that was winning Brisbane its premierships. I'd back him to read the game as it currently stands and work on styling a game that will suit the current AFL, and if that means defence, then it means defence, but if it means something else, then it will be that.

That is worse than losing by 10 to 15 every week?

I can handle about three years of winning before the method will start to worry me.

Interesting that is exactly the same feedback I was given by my friend on the board.............................. who I may add went very silent on Roos after being adamant we were going to get him in May or early June. Clearly the board and administration smartly kept their mouth shut. This may have been a test......... so to speak. Certainly the old board and admin would have leaked this all day everyday and the deal would have been lost. The point is that no body knew how close things had got, despite obvious and clear on-going communications between the club and Roos. Well done to the club (assuming no last minute fcuk up!).

I asked my "friend" who was going to be coach a month ago after Roos had sort of said no publically, and he told me they were still confident in getting Roos. I reported this here at the time but it seemed few believed. I had even lost confidence.

Ever since he wrote that double page article on the list i have been quietly confident.

Why else would he do it?

It may well have been that analysis that sealed the deal...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
