Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

At a minimum;

- The same effort as last week.

- Some structure coming out of defense (especially with our kick-ins).

- Around 80 tackles for the game.

- No quarters with less than 2 goals kicked (by us).

- Nathan Jones getting a chop-out.

- No kicks into the man on the mark.

- No jogging to create options and no following your opponent by 5-10 metres when the opposition controls the ball.

- Jamar to tap to advantage rather than just to his big feet

- good decision making and disposal.

- a win.

On top of watching the game I'll be attending a pre game function with Neil Craig and Josh Mahoney that's been organised by the Western Demons (thanks guys). Craig is going to talk about leadership within the club and Mahoney will take questions from the supporters.

From this event, I would like to get a clear understanding on how the club see's the leadership development of the Captains and maybe some detail on the program I can then share with you all. I'm not sure Craigy will be taking questions so it might be a little tough to extract much out of him other than what he has rehearsed.

I think Josh Mahoney might get a few curly ones thrown at him but an obvious one I would want a response to is why are we clearly going backwards when the reason for appointing a new coach was to advance in the competition. Understanding that we all have our ideas about this but to hear an opinion from the Football Manager himself would be interesting. I just want my belief restored by someone within the FD.

On the field I want to see the boys be bold and take chances. Over the course of the season so far we've missed chances that other teams seem to make and convert into scores. Just be confident and play with spirit and it'll account for a good effort and hopefully translate into an upset win.

I'd love you post what they say, McQ.

This has to be McKenzie's job (if he plays) Absolutely non-negotiable!!!

I want to see us regularly hit up targets on the half-forward line. This is where we fall down every week and it costs us about 10 goals a game. In my opinion, it is the single largest reason why we're a bad side.

Along with a lack of quality mids Chook.

Is it wrong to think/hope for a big loss so that Neeld is moved on quicker rather than waiting for the inevitable?

yes its wrong since there is no point.

Neeld is gone 100%

May as well get some confidence into the playing group before our new coach takes over the reigns

Yes it is wrong to ever wish for your team to lose, that is how the list management saga was born!

I want to see the same level of effort brought by the players this week, one things for sure Freo will always bring effort

I want intensity and dogged determination for every contest

I want to see every Dees player walking off the field having left everything out there after having a red hot crack

Whilst I want a win I want to see all of the above and continuous improvement each week

- Kicks and handballs that hit the target more often than not

- greater effort to spread when we have it, particularly on the very long Subiaco

- Davey continue his good form from last week

- Win the contested ball and the tackles

- Being in the game on the scoreboard for as long as possible

Might be a bit too much to ask I'm afraid! Freo are a damn good side, as proven last week despite all of their outs. I can't believe that some people still think Ross Lyon is an average coach, he's superb.

-Get a decent amount of disposals, run in numbers, link up through the middle.

-No putting players like Howe in defence late in the game.

- A flamboyant Watts in the forward line

- Refuse to lose

- Not lose

- Win

- Try to win

- Kick long so at least if we turn the ball over it's further away from their goals

- Neeld to break down, cry and resign

- Nathan Jones to get over 30 possessions

- Anyone to get over 30 possessions

- Davey to do the coin toss because it's indigenous round and he deserves to be there more than Trengove anyway

- Us to wear our home guernsey

- Us to give me satisfaction that I used to get from our efforts during the Bailey era

- Try

Spirit of:

- Tom Wills

- Jim Stynes

- Barassi

- Febey twins

- A competitive nature

- A competitive culture

- A winning culture

- A culture culture

- A training drill

- Execution of Wednesday skills

- 22 men decked out in red and blue, with a common goal

- Hope

- A win. Because at the end of the day, what's the point if we aren't hoping for wins. Get a bigger score than the opposition. We all want our team to win, unless Jordan Mcmahon is having a shot after the siren. I could've been brought up barracking for any club, but it just happened to be Melbourne. So come on, you're a club for crying out loud. You are a team of people whose footy skills shone above others and who probably dreamed about playing AFL one day. The media say a lot of things, a lot of things are said on forums. But please, just chase a ball and put it through some posts. Because you will make people happy.

Red & Blue jumper, not the poxy white one! IMO our jumper does not clash with the dockers at all, yet we will see the alternate strip worn. Perhaps we have a contractual obligation with NB to wear the clash jumper a certain number of times each year to help with merchandise sales?

Is it wrong to think/hope for a big loss so that Neeld is moved on quicker rather than waiting for the inevitable?

I would say yes.

What grand 'plus' is there in having a caretaker coach for 4 months?

How will it help player retention? How will it help us convince a proven coach to take over?

A 'head start' on getting a coach does not mean going through the majority of a season without one.

Add that to the fact that we have a CEO three weeks into his job and you have a situation where no decision will be taken promptly lest it be one that is not advised by our AFL-endorsed CEO.

Some players may have issues with Neeld and their confidence is still alarmingly low looking at their seeming inability to run for each other and themselves but the effort against the Tigers tells me that the players can get something out of the rest of season even if they can't save their coach.

And if they can save the coach then they would have got an enormous amount out of the season.

They lose that chance if we remove him now - for the time spent under a caretaker is nothing more than 'biding time' - for players, coaches, and the club in general.

You may never type words that are more relevant than those PSD

I can remember hating that Richmond loss while many Dees supporters around me were cheering.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
