Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How many weeks will sylvia get?

Probably 2. He's had a month of 20+ touches, kicked a some goals, been aggressive. He's been playing his part, he' has ability as everyone points out, but some seem to think he can take on teams all by himself. I think for the first time in his career he is being unfairly criticised.

Team game.

Just tweeted by AFL that Sylvia has been offered 3 weeks rest by the MRP... also noticed that Dawes got a reprimand... anyone know what that was for?

is that 4 weeks reduced to 3?

or 3 weeks that can be reduced to 2?

He can accept 3.

Not good. And seeing the precedent that has been established with Jetta, he'll probably have to either sit out another game, or do a game of penance at Casey. Which pretty well takes us up to the bye.

Three matches.......no reduction....

400 odd points down to 3 games if early plea.

They could go the tribunal and argue that it wasn't high impact as Brennan showed signs of concussion but might not have actually been knocked out. You could try and win that one.

Alternatively you could try and fight for negligant not reckless and say how Sylvia was trying to bump and Brennan slipped down, but to me it looks reckless.

Sylvia's elbow showed emotion, it showed that he was frustrated with the situation he found himself & the team in. It was a cheap shot and he would have regretted it straight away, but thats footy.

If it was Tapsoctt or Jetta doing the same thing there would be plenty of people saying "about time some one showed some mongrel" or "good to see someone going the biff"

Hey, didn't Colin Sylvia get a three week suspension in 2009 and didn't that trigger off an accusation of tanking when he was made to play one game at Casey after he served out his time?

Maybe we could ...

Nah, fuggedit.

if its 3 with no reduction then he may as well appeal. nothing to lose

Nah, if he appeals and loses it will be 4 weeks due to carry over points.

Amazing he gets his jaw broken and there is no charge.

But gets 3 weeks when there was no injury.

How does that work?

Surely you don't expect any consistency from our beloved MRP / Tribunal, do you. Their failure to act on that cowardly off ball incident, with significant injury, was an absolute disgrace.

Their only consistency is their inconsistency.

But on balance I reckon Col should accept the ban - I am a little surprised (as stated earlier) that the "MFC multiplier" wasn't applied - maybe, sadly, they have like the rest of the footy world, pity on us :-(((

He is guilty of an un disciplined act but sh#t he showed some passion and utter frustration at what was unfolding. From where I was sitting in the Ponsford there was precious little of the same from the others except the Jones's, viney and Howe and few others. At least at times he was proactive in a side full of reactive passengers who were acting like bit players in some type of Sun's training drill.

He may never live up to his potential but I don't think we have the luxury to send him packing at years end but then he is free to go if he gets an offer.

He won't leave. We could (/will) give him, deadset, 600-700k and not even put a dint in our salary cap.

He won't get that anywhere else...

Oh, so you are saying he did get a discount but that was offset by carry over points?

Hard sometimes to get all the details

Correct.

I think he's been our best this season, at least since the Essendon match and I'm sad he's sitting out. He was a bit disappointing at the start, but he was clearly playing decent footy and kicked a great goal. He's running out games well and has been consistent in disposal and pace. To be honest, I didn't think the incident was that bad and where Sylvia ended up hitting him was completely accidental and it looked like he was attempting a fair bump. He's still an important player and considering Grimes and Trengove are already out we need him in the team

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
