hey avoided a full disclosure but they did not lie about dank not being involved. The problem is that it looks deceitful.

If you read the second statement in my post previously released by mFC (http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/33494-dank-involved-at-demons/page-8#entry732144), then I'm not sure that what you have said can be substantiated.

""He has never had any direct contact with the players.":

In light of the released text messages, this is simply not true. It seems that he even met the captain (Trengove) at the pharmacy... (to be fair, we don't know that this meeting actually took place - the texts imply that it was planned, though).

Either Melbourne didn't know of the extent of Dank's involvement with the players and their supplements program when they made the above statements, and when they were interviewed by the AFL , or they lied about it.

I find the former more plausible (ie, Bates lied to them about his contact Dank once the [censored] hit the fan).

lets Not turn this into something about us, when its the wider Elite sport community.

Talk about delusional. 'We' aren't turning this into being about us, the club has done that by their mismanagement.

If tanking taught us anything it's that it's not what others are doing its what you get caught doing and how you control it.

With the AFL now furious with us and the members feeling truly betrayed how do we move forward.

I think we just wrote our own death notice.

If this was all legal then the only thing we are guilty of is naive lying and misdirection.

Our doctor was directly involved, which is great - if everything is above board.

If some of it isn't legal then we are looking at fines and firings.

Just excellent...

Don has got to sacrifice himself if he wants to keep that board that is so impressive.

Craig has some explaining to do.

The messages referred to conversations between Dank and Neil Craig and a "Dave".

Ah gotcha, so direct convos between Neil Craig and Dank? Not relayed messages from Bate?

They avoided a full disclosure but they did not lie about dank not being involved. The problem is that it looks deceitful. Like tanking. Like firing schwab because he "divides the supporter base"; like saying that the coach does not know why they players aren't playing well. LIke saying we had a "rigorous process" about recruiting Neeld; like saying "High performance with high integrity". Like firing the CEO and then re-hiring him and firing the coach after the players tell the pres-in-waiting that they cannot stand the ceo. Lies, deceit, half-truths, betrayals of trust. Again and again and again.

And to think that when this Board or the club processes have been questioned by posters on this site for several years, the questioners have been smeared and derided as "splitters" or informants to the media.

It's all true. God, how miserable!

Bring in the broom, I have felt the board are talented and well credentialed, but this list of bad strategic decisions, is damning. The press gives me the sh@ts, but probably know what's going on but can't get the quote.

This with the exception of caro, and denham, both shocking, the latter, tomorrow rubbing his hands in glee at our misfortune. We have done his club a huge favour, BY MAKING THEM LOOK GOOD.

tote rely depressing!

That's a really really interesting question, all the more so in light of the MFC statement ( which the ABC were aware of since they quoted it at the end of the segment) that all supplements were administered and overseen by the club doctor.

Arguably the ABC is aware that none of the substances under discussion are banned and therefore they are not alleging illegal activity.

I would say a close-to-inexcusable breach of privacy by the 7.30 Report even if as would seem likely the source of the SMS messages is Dank himself

You may be right. If given as medical treatment, not banned and given by the Doctor, then there may be legal action avaialble to those mentioned. Remember how angry the AFL was when the results of Hawks drugs tests were found in the street and released to the media.

Talk is that it is Dank himself. Like a drowning man grabbing at others while he's going down.

I think you'll find that the AFL want this to go away & they are hopng for a scapegoat, to hang the media crap on.

& in that, Dank is an intelligent man & can read the AFL's tea leaves.

IMO he's trying to put the media on a slow drip to pressure the AFL & its 'contacts', to facilitate a mutual outcome... he's protecting himself from being the scapegoat as you would expect a person to do.

the people employed him to do as he's done. & now want to deny any knowledge & leave him hung out.... IMO this is the issue.

its all the clubs involved, & those who've not been named, who are to blame.

Denying something to that parasite Barrett is different to conversations with the AFL.

Everyone is keen to sink the club for not telling the truth when they has no idea what conversations were had or are being had with the AFL.

Since when did Barrett speak the gospel truth? Since when did he report a story truthfully and in full detail without any bias or sensationalism.

The situation appears quite different to Essendon on face value and perhaps the majority here need to take a step back and wait until the full facts are known rather than the usual jumping to wild conclusions...

Good luck with that.

Mabey Dank was injecting Ketamine into the boys by mistake. Because half of them move too fecking slow and/or are falling asleep. What ever wondertard or tards that we are employing is causing these horse apples to happen needs to be outted, then the suppoters allowed ram pineapples into whatever orifice they choose...

I am awaiting answers, while standing in the fruit and veg section of Woolies........

No. Messages between Dank and Bate where Dank said he had spoken to Craig and Misson

I'm not supporting the club in this at all, just to make it clear.

But I also don't think that legally we did anything wrong, which is good because we can't afford a legal case.

All this does, for now, is highlight what an incompetent bunch of morons run this club. Which is sad and totally ruins whatever shred of credibility we had left.

This club is dying from self inflicted wounds.

Ok, still trying to catch up on all the "facts" with this situation.

We've seen how the Bomber players have responded to the investigation into their supplement use.

How will Melbourne respond this weekend?

I'm not sure I want to find out ...

From what I saw on the 7.30 Report none of the substances used on our players are banned so maybe it is not as frightening as it originally seemed.

They certainly didn't do anything to enhance our performance did they?

Imagine the players right now... Another night of uncomfortable sleep knowing reporters waiting outside for them... Good god what are the odds on our winni g this week now?

THIS is the statement MFC released some time ago with reference to Dank:

"Steve Dank has never been employed by the Melbourne Football Club. All medical procedures involving the administration of supplements and medical substances have been and will continue to be under the supervision, direction and authority of the club doctor Dan Bates."

At best, it's misleading. At worst, it's dishonest.

One explanation is that the the author was unaware of Dank's true involvement with MFC. This would be because Bates (and perhaps others) was not honest with the club when he was asked about Dank (as he undoubtedly was). If so, his days are surely numbered.

*edit*

And here is one further damning quote from MFC re Dank:

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl/allegations-of-possible-use-of-banned-drugs-systematic-cheating-secret-injections-rock-mighty-essendon-club/story-e6frepf6-1226571185543

A Melbourne Football Club spokeswoman yesterday confirmed Dank had applied for a job at the club.

"He applied for a job at the club late last year but he was unsuccessful," she said.

"He has never had any direct contact with the players."

What if he was never employed by the Club and everything he provided or advised, was checked by the Doctor, ok under the WADA code and done through him. Then the statement is 100% accurate.

Is it not possible he was advising on the use of legal supplements, to be supplied through one of his connections and was never employed by the club?

No lets just sack everyone, without giving them the chance of reply.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
