Ridiculous are the questions being put to Mclardy, suggesting its a knee jerk reaction.

So first we cop it for not doing anything, then when we do its, why did you sack him and not the coach etc. etc.

Yeah was waiting for Caro to jump in with a bit of why did you sack him? That would of being the ultimate. Crazy questions, the best one was about the Geelong business.

any club not performing is going to cop it.

It's been 6 years. Personally i hope the blowtorch is still pointed our way.

The MFC has to perform.

Caroline Wilson asked McLardy why he said there wouldn't be sackings yesterday then decided today to terminate him... Now the answer was to do with Unity, but I would have turned the question back on Caroline.

"Caroline, you wrote that Cameron was on thin ice in this morning's newspaper, how did you arrive at that position?"

They are legitimate questions............no problems with any of them.

They are kicking us any way they can.

No matter what we do its the wrong decision.

We are on a lose lose situation here.

Who cares about what any of the media say. They are simpletons who couldn't get a real job

Move on. Start winning Dees and these numnuts will disappear.

Well said.

The club is raving on and on about how far it's come, the progress it's made.

"I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

The club's self-proclaimed inroads will only matter if it responds, and soon.

Its "building for long-term success" fails because it's attempting to cross the lake via a bridge that doesn't exist.

There's "pain" (quoting Mark Neeld) and then there is just downright ineptness.

The club must perform. These are professional individuals. They MUST perform.

Schwab spoke a lot better than Don - in fact Cam actually bailed Don out in the press conference.

Caro was angry, because Cam Schwab operated like a true professional, when you have a bloke that sits there and says that he understand why he is sacked and all the rest of it - then the limited journo's have to think what they can ask Schwab that will get a reaction that they want.

Robbo tried, Caro tried, they didn't get their response off Schwab, they turned their attention towards Don, who Schwab covered for nicely all press conference.

But, he couldn't keep doing that and the more Don spoke, the worse it got for him and then in the end.

With a bit of luck, Don moves on, Neeld and Brown move on and we can start fresh, from scratch, like we desperately need to.

The AFL might be quite happy to leave Don where he is. He is no threat they already know that.

The CEO position is critical...the obvious choice from an AFL pov is Anderson at this point.

Why is Caro so angry all the time? God I'm glad I don't have to spend any time with her. She'd be miserable about everything.

THBT you can always take one for the team and try and cheer her up

Media yesterday: Sack Schwab!

Media today: Why did you sack Schwab?

Schwab: I accept being sacked.

Media: No you don't.

This is mad, why the hell would we want AA, who stirred the tanking pot while AD was away? I realize your not pushing for AA (but his name has come up a couple of times now on different posts), but why on earth would we want AA or let him near our club? We need someone who fosters unity and teaches all the barrow pushers in the club to push in the same direction. Seems to many people are impressed with big mouths like Eddie and Jeff that is not what is good for the club, unity is the way forward, (jeez I wish robbie was a bit healthier)

Thread title should be 'losing - damned if you do, not if you don't'

That's all that matters to anyone. We could be the richest, best run club in Australia but we would still be copping it for losing like we are. Conversely, if we were a top side on the field nobody would give a hoot what is going on with our admin/finances etc.

It's not who we want it's who HQ want.

They will have a big say.

Unlikely I know, but it'll be interesting to see what angle the media adopts towards the MFC if, God forbid, we put in decent performances and actually win the next two games.

Hard for the media to maintain the frenzied hyperbole against us if we're mid table after round 4.

Anderson for Schwab?

You're really going to have to identify some positive attributes Anderson would bring compared to Schwab.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
