So I was just having a think about the game and I thought, "I really want to see someone make a statement from the opening bounce". Not a king hit or an illegal and dangerous shirtfront. But someone crash through a pack or get a really good hard ball get to set the tone for the year (preferably from a LG player).

(Apart from a win obviously) what doe everyone else want to see?

Value for the money I am spending getting down to the game with my son, from Sydney.

I want to see us take the game by the scruff of the neck in the first 10-15 mins and get a few goals on the board. Like the Saints pre-season game but this time it'll be different because it will get the G going off.Get everyone on the edge of their seats. Get 25,000 people making the noise of 60,000 as Mitch Clark drags down a pack mark and converts to put us further in front.

That will breed confidence. And I honestly believe once this teams gets confidence, we are going to start being very competitive again very quickly.

C'mon boys, let's dominate early.

I'd consider the Geelong tactic and start blease, Sylvia or Rodan loose at chb for the first bounce with the instruction of running straight through the guts and hopefully getting on to the ball.

The first play doesn't decide the match but I certainly agree that a spark helps set the tone.

I want to see a win, and a player like Byrnes or Rodan have a really good game to shove it up kn0bs like Damien Barrett who slagged off the recruiting last year and saying these boys have no football left.

I would also love to see Viney and Wines go at it from a football spectacle point of view! :)

I have very little doubt we will explode out of the blocks. It is the inevitable second and/or third quarter disappearance act that has me concerned. I want to see a consistent four quarter performance. I'll take the loss if I can just see that.

Sung to the tune of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's "I Want the World"

I want a win,
I want a damn win.

I want them to lock the ball up in the pocket,
Just give them a rocket
Give it to them
Now!

I want a side filled with brilliant midfielders.
Ten thousand tons of hard ball.
And if they don't play like Rambo on steroids
I'm going to scream!

Yeah coz we exploded out of the blocks so often last year!

I want to see Viney take the ball out of the first centre bounce, run and and spread the ball to a running Toumpas who will hand-pass over the top to Clark in the goal square. Goal - 23 seconds.

I want to see Watts kick in from a rushed behind and find a running Matt Jones who takes on his opposition player and turns him inside out whilst giving off a hand-pass to Sam Blease who is shepherded beautifully by David Rodan allowing him to run down the members wing to deliver to Sellar on 50. Sellar puts a high ball to the goal square where Howe soars to drag down a contender for GOTY. Goal - 2 mins 30.

These all sound a bit like that say against Sydney at the G all those years ago!!

Just quietly, I want to see tough footy - not Yates/Brereton, but Chapman/Scarlett/Mooney hard.

It's a long time since anyone looked twice when we were coming

Gee Harold you certainly have your priorities in the correct order

Depends which way you look at it.

No lines mean everyone is glued to the action on the field.

We are playing well and winning!

A 187 point win will do me just fine. Throw in pia miller sitting next to me and it's perfect.

Our friend Colin Sylvia playing in the midfield all game, 30+ touches and 2 goals at the final siren (helping out Jonesy). Watts to have a cracking game and being the architect off the back line. The new draftees to get involved but the rest of the team to carry us!. For my old man and I to sing "it's a grand old flag" and we agree that finally we are improving!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
