Mitch Clark - the recovery

We aren't going to be a one man forward line, like we were when Neita controlled the Goal half.

If Mitch isn't there we'll have Pedo, Dawes, Howe, Sylvia, Fitzy. Rotating around creating confusion.

Throw in Gawn & Spencer when fit and I'd hate to try and match up on them.

Then think about big Jesse next year.

All we need up there now is a genuine small forward. Byrnes will probably play as a small forward in 2013, but he's heading into the end of his career. I wonder what the plan is for the future;there aren't many in our system that I think would be able to fill the role effectively.

Plus gives a chance for the other forwards to settle in a bit.

good call.. we get a chance to see what Dawes and Pedersen can do without Mitch's influence on how they set up, should be valuble for the coaches. Then when Mitch comes back we will be in a stronger position strategically

There are a few 'pure' small forwards left, Milne springs to mind, but the game is changing at such a pace, think personally we will have rotating midfield/forwards such as Blease, Howe, Jones etc with possibly a defensive forward Tapscott...Byrnes will do what he did at Geelong...up and down the wings.......the forward line will be packed with firepower this year....hoping with our revamped midfield we can get it to them

I reckon they've been coming back into vogue. Jetta and Davey - Essendon; Betts and Garlett - Carlton; Milne, Saad and Milera - Saints; Callinan - Adelaide; Ballantyne - Freo; Rioli - Hawthorn; Nahas - Richmond; Motlop - Geelong ...

Just play Jack Viney at full foward. I wonder what the Jack Viney medal should be for...

We have sam, why are we not using him as a small forward?

Blease's run and carry & footskills are too good to be confined to forward 50 only (IMO).

He will play down there for periods but he needs to play in the midfield for longer periods (IMO).

A fit Aaron Davey and Shannon Byrnes will do for another year or two

Missing Mitch for the start of 2013 is not the end of the world as we have some new players to test and kids to expose to afl, but a few things that hurt us without Mitch

He is going to be a big part in changing our habits to winnings ways

He is still a younger player himself, and every minute he misses is a minute of development he misses

Mitch will make Dawes and pedo and even howe better! He's aggressive, and takes the number 1 defender away from a bloke like Dawes who needs the confidence

And for once I would like to start a season well, maybe crush port round 1

I know if we wanna be any good we can't depend on one player, and we must take it easy with Mitch, but gee he makes our side look so much better!

Amazing how quickly people not only jump to conclusions but proceed to enshrine them as psuedo-fact.

Some ought to get jobs in the media lol

Do you think he will play round1 bb?
think or know ?

Yes I think he will. Know it ? Can't possibly lol

My only caveat is I expect his training to start ramping up soon. Providing he can take to the field in some useful fashion then I don't see why he couldn't play out ogf the square whilst he builds match fitness.

If he can kick, he'll play. No real reason not to. (If foot given the aok by the docs)

All indications suggest he's on track . His own forecast was to play round one al things being equal. Why should I second guess him :-)

As we are not playing for sheep stations, a premiership or extra draft picks this year Neeld does have the ability to experiment a little with who goes where.

I expect to see this post misrepresented in the SMH tomorrow morning.

He will need to build match fitness and the only way is playing but will need to come in with a good level of fitness to start with. The game these days doesn't allow anyone the luxury of playing out of the square, defenders will take advantage and run him into the ground.

Your caveat was his training to ramp up soon, if it doesn't and they are being conservative there is no way he will play to build up his fitness base.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
