I was just wondering, with the trip planned next week.

With the high temperatures and humidity.

Who will be the first to go down with a season ending injury?

Who will have a close encounter of croc. on the Kakadu Hike?

I think all the crocs in Kakadu cleared out of there when they heard that Jack Viney was coming.

Looking forward to reading the reports that come out of this trip. If Misson says its tough than god have mercy on the players

one thing that this trip suggests to me is that the MFC will be playing games in Darwin for some time yet.

must have been one of the worst options picked when playing games away, would have been because they threw the $$$$ up after Carrara stopped it, but you would think NZ and Tassie are a much bigger market from a MFC perspective, even for us VIC's to attend these away matches.

What day do they leave?

This is more an exercise in identifying leadership as Misson alluded to by mentioning it would be about the players testing their resolve. Deprived of all the mod cons they're used to, placed into a foreign environment and pushed very hard will break a few of the boys I'd imagine.

The blokes that shine during the 9 days I expect to be part of the leadership group for next year.

Tassie was s3wn up by Hawthorn...............and New Zealand?.....bad enough playing a Mickey Mouse game in London or Los Angeles....Kiwi interest would be non existent.......do you go to Darwin, I do, the crowd is not the biggest but the actual interest is.....

Honest I didn't mean to be the Jinx but the co-Skipper went down with the first injury just thinking about it.

They're not alone.

Sounds like the 60,000 that went to Vietnam in the 60's

as well as the many more who went to Iraq & Afghanistan.

So when you think about our players give a little thought to the guys and girls that didn't return from these foreign places.

May they Rest in Peace. Lest we Forget.

?! Let's not go overboard Chippa. Jinx on a player who has a stress reaction in his foot BEFORE he even gets on a flight to Darwin you're not that good pal.

60k to Viet in the 60's wow that is a big footy trip!

Are you saying that the MFC Top End trip is like going to war?

(As I slowly leave this thread to avoid any injuries from what is thrown at me...)

Did venon denham bag us for going to darwin on kb's show today? I didnt listen to it but tuned in at 5 to 10 to KB reading out allthese text messages about us and KB said you have gone to far with this melbourne thing and im not in your corner. Just wondered what his issue is now. Not happy with darwin?

I am not sure he has just one 'issue' re the Dees!

He is still waiting for Mitch Clark to overcome a long injury break to run out for Freo.

Well, for the next nine days you can be assured there will be no training reports from either Gosch's Paddock or Casey Fields but we've been promised by the club site that it will provide daily reports on the happenings.

I suppose that will have to do unless someone from the Top End who supports the club runs into a player or two ...

I've got a mate who is on the inside who is going up.

I rarely plug him for info but I will get a story out of him from the Top End to keep the the brethren happy .

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
