I'm not against getting him, he is a good player - the knees are the obvious concern but if he can stay fit see no reason he couldn't land a spot in our forward line. Anyone know how old he is?

That's not so bad but 29 with dodgy knees is a worry. Would get him if he passed medicals but wouldn't pay too much, could help out for one or two years.

i'm on the fence with Rodan. He would add some serious pace to our list which we badly need, but he is an aging player so probably wouldn't be on our list for too many years and his knee is also a worry, not sure if he is worth the risk

and why does the article say that Rivers is a former defender for us!?!? he hasn't said he is leaving has he? i thought he was only checking what was out there?

In Ports predicament, any player they don't want is likely finished. I like his style, goal smarts and strength. But as others have said, age and knees are a worry. If he was still any good Port would keep him.

Could be a specialist sub the way he plays in bursts.

His worth a chance, his age is not that bad, it comes down to his fitness and knees. He is only going to get a game if he proves himself better than the others we have so should not be too hard for him (at least for the first 4 years)

Probably my least favourite player in the AFL, no defensive side to his game and just runs around and around getting nowhere a lot of the time. We've just moved Moloney on, no need for Rodan.

As for the club making enquiries, well I guess they are doing their due diligence which is something we have complained about them not doing in the past. An enquiry doesn't mean real interest, I hope not in this case.

Exactly like Moloney - except he is a small forward not a midfielder, has good evasive skills and can kick goals. Other than that he's exactly the same.

Funny, I didn't see the word exactly used, but the similarities are that they are both one way players with no defensive side to their game who have little awareness of teammates around them and that's why I would find it hard to believe Neeld would be interested. Time will tell.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/magpies-not-sure-of-luring-hawk-young-20121013-27jqd.html

"Wellingham's trade from the Magpies to West Coast in recent days and the pending departure of forward Chris Dawes - most likely to Melbourne - open the door for Young.

Delisted Port Adelaide veteran David Rodan looks certain to be thrown a lifeline by a Melbourne-based club, with Melbourne and his former team Richmond both linked with him.

The Demons also remain keen on North Melbourne's tall utility Cam Pedersen, with a deal likely some time next week.

But that may not happen until the Demons organise a suitable trade for their prime target, Collingwood's Dawes."

Surely not we are going to have to delist quite a few already and I can't think of many/any I'd delist for him.

Hmmm... It would be exciting to see the dees run out in round 1 with about half a dozen ex players from other clubs.. but then i think the novelty would wear off pretty quickly!

Pass from me.

I'd be OK with Rodan. He's a very good talent, but I think his running ability is a bit suspect. I'd be using him as a deep forward to provide pressure and a bit opportunism. Has good power and works really well in congestion. Just can't do it for long. If we can get him as a role player then he could be valuable.

His best is very good...... But he's definitely passed his best..... Can his body hold up?

A rookie spot maybe......

An aging pygmy with three knee reconstructions who struggles to get a game at Port Adelaide.

What a disgraceful way of putting it.

Good for our midfield depth, even though 29 ,David is a fitness freak and if any player can play well past 30 he can.

He s an A 1 bloke too.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
